FS: A4000T in need of TLC
« on: July 28, 2011, 05:45:36 PM »
I've got a mostly working A4000T minus the front door that I think it's time to get into the hands of someone who might be able to get it back to 100%.

The issue is it's missing one surface mount chip on the motherboard, either U455 or U457, I don't have the board in front of me at the moment.  Good news is the part seems to be available online at low cost (not Amiga specific,) bad news is I don't have the soldering skills and/or equipment to attach one.

Now for the "almost working" part: as it is, everything seems to be working fine except digital color output from the video slots.  Hooking up an RGB monitor works just fine, Zorro boards, mouse, keyboard, sound, all fine.  The only issue I noted was with an A2320 installed the output from the scandoubler seemed to only be blue.

The system comes with an A3640 and 16MB of RAM and some sort of hard drive installed, no more than 4GB but possibly smaller.  It's currently running OS3.9.

Anyone up for the challenge, or happy to use it as is?  Make me a fair offer.  USA only, unless you're really fond of paying ridiculous shipping charges.

I think I want this, though what are you asking?
Earth has a lot of things other folks might want... like the whole planet. And maybe these folks would like a few changes made, like more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and room for their way of life. - William S. Burroughs
