Here's someone greedy, trying to cash in on the long waiting list. Selling a Vampire II 600 for $699 Canadian / about $550 US.

Well now it's $690 US. 50 more than the original Buy it Now. For $200 worth of equipment. There's a few people who REALLY don't want to wait in line :)

How about this one? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=112142339965&alt=web

$7,000 for what's supposed to be a prototype of a CD32 game but he's unable to provide pictures of it running. He also doesn't have the controller for it - something like the Joyboard but shaped like a surfboard. Anyway it's just a homemade CD that could simply be burned from the image available in several places for download.

While this one isn't Amiga specific....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Atari-Falcon-030-Computer-4-MB-RAM-VGA-Adapter-Power-Adapter-TESTED-WORKING-/302011075165?hash=item4651434a5d:g:QWEAAOSwzLlXgyY7

Granted, 1000 USD is only a bit outrageous, especially for basically a stock system, maybe if it had the 14mb upgrade or a netusbee or something.

But this is the same seller for both Falcons, and the only difference is one comes with a VGA and the terrible Atari Mouse.  But apparently those two items are worth 750 bucks....

Can this really be true?  Did someone other than the using another account actually bid and buy this?   http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ghost-Manor-TurboGrafx-16-1992-/112105344456

I've noticed that computer_preservation tends to post high BIN prices, but they tend to be quite negotiable.

If you develop a relationship with them, they are very reasonable. Open to negotiations as you said, especially if you get several things at once. I've gotten quite a lot from them.

They have an advantage over many of us because through their contacts they find large lots. They've bought out the entire stock of several companies. If there are certain things that you are looking for, they keep a list and are good about keeping an eye out for you. They're not averse to taking parts from several partially working machines to combine into one working one for you and only charging for the one machine, not all of the donors like you would from most places even though it leaves them with several non working machines that it will be harder for them to sell.

It really does seem like their focus is to preserve as many fully functional machines as possible AND see them in active use, not tucked away in a collection.

Apologies about the $400 motherboard. It was a typo and has been corrected.
