Yes, the lack of supply and ultra-high prices have dampened my Amiga enthusiasm.

Oh well, enough complaining and back to repairing the cheap Apple iie.

I got an A4000 recently as I figured prices will only ever go in one direction. I wish I'd done it 10 years ago, but better than in 10 years from now.

What counts as hoarding? I think different models is ok, but it's maddening to see a load of A1000s piled up in a garage.

Amibay was set up to keep prices down but I worry it's concentrating all the good stuff in the hands of a small number of vultures. I'd rather let market forces dictate prices than see someone pounce on their 5th A3000 with a minute of it coming in.

My goal at first was to get one of each model, but we'll see in the  future.

I'll just keep upgrading my A2000 (still held at 8mb fastram until new hardware comes available ), as my 4000 is absolutely dead.

I can see trying to get enough to remain fully compatible, or maybe as the ebb and flow of upgrades go.  For example, I have an A4000D, but as far as upgrades go, it seems the A1200 gets most of them.  But I could still kind of wanting an A500 along with it, for those few programs that just refuse to run on an AGA machine.

For example, I currently have a 1040STf, MegaSTe, TT030 and Falcon030.  Each one of those are compatible/capable in their own way.  Unfortunately only the first and last actually boot to a desktop and the first one has weird vertical lines worth of  pixels missing :(  Still working on cleaning up whatever mice left in the MegaSTe, and for some odd reason the TT030 just gives me a white screen.

But that's part of the fun, tweaking and fixing the old beasts!

Not sure if you'd consider me a hoarder of Atari things.  Mostly I think it's a somewhat good idea to have a parts machine as well, but the people who just have garages full of things that sit unused....

Maybe I've just got weird taste but I actually kinda like it - using the ass-end of the '500 to build the front of the desktop case is actually pretty cool and I could imagine something like this as an alternate reality A2000 - props to the creator for some original thinking, it's just a shame it's such a hatchet-job...

And no - whilst I may respect the mad science that goes into creating such an unholy monster, I wouldn't lay down any cash for it :D

Or you could just buy this one, speaking of outlandish prices "as I shake my head"

As soon as I saw the shielding I thought the same thing!  That is indeed the Franken500!

All it needs is the brain from Abby Normal.

Check this "Rare" item out!!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Commodore-1350-Mouse-Good-C64-C128-Vintage-Original-Box-Excellent-Rare-/170844771432?pt=US_Vintage_Computers_Mainframes&hash=item27c7245468

It may seem pricey, but those are Canadian dollars -- very similar to the ones packaged in the game Monopoly!
