I had the Cybervision PPC on my watch list. The seller probably got a fat offer for the combo through eBay messaging. It was nice, including the documentation.

The ultimate A4000T is just one of many things the fraudsters list when a seller account gets hacked, mostly vintage fender and gibson guitars. I saw something on TV about a place in Romania where the hackers targetting eBay operate. Could be the source of this.

The Ultimate A4000T listing was just copied from the original listing which was legitimate. The technique is to watch eBay for stuff that sells for a lot, copy the listing text and photos, and pop them into new listings in the hacked account. I think they are using some sort of database and scripting to automate the process so the listings pop up fast once they get into an account. It's over in hours. Since the first occurrence of the A4000T fraud, it has gotten a little more sophisticated with each repeat. At first it was just a gmail address to contact out of ebay. Now it is redirection to other sites that look like a real eBay or Paypal page. Classic phishing. At one point, there was a listing that said nasty things about Amiga.org members. And the database of listings is growing. It was several pages of guitars, barbie dolls, pro audio and industrial equipment along with the "Ultimate A4000T" the last time it happened. The hackers could be operating anywhere. They obviously have some real chops and know how to code.

If you notice the "10 sold" was at 15.99 each. Sometimes people will jack the price up if they are expecting to get more stock, I guess to hold the listing open. I tried to buy a couple of AC adapters for laptops once, they told me they were out of stock, refunded my money and changed the price from $14.99 to $149.00. A couple of weeks later they got more stock and dropped the price back. Not sure where you get more Commodore stock :-).
They may have found out they are collectable and are hoping for the best on the last item.

Yea a lot of sellers bump up the price temporarily when they are expecting more stock, the reason is to keep the sales history on display, and helps maintain the items ranking within the search results.
