Not all memory seen on PP Zeus 040 board
« on: July 20, 2011, 03:58:09 AM »
I'm running a PP Zeus 040 board (on my A2000) and not all its memory is seen.  Only 2 MB is found, whereas all 4 MB on the GVP hard disk controller card is found.  Is there some interference of sorts here?  (I also have Bridgeboard with, I think, 0.5 MB installed.)  Thanks.

Hmmm, but that page also says:
"it's not advised to set more than 2 MB to be autoconfigured"

So how does one get at the not-autoconfigured memory?  (and Sysinfo won't see it?)

You'll need to install the software for the accelerator to use the additional memory.  The other PP&S '040 card is the same.

There might be another way, but I haven't seen it.

I've been away for too many years to do much good but I have had several Zeus boards that I vaguely remember playing with.  Init040 has several different commands within it with various parameters.  In order for the  processor to play nice with other programs and boards like gigamem and Emplant/Fusion you need to manually set everything up in your startup-sequence.  I don't remember much of the details, but to point you in the right direction, get a holds of the setup instructions for Emplant.  Init040 that came with the Zeus is dozer (just good enough) programming. You need to modify or replace it.  In order for Zeus to work optimally it needs the jumpers set to 0 auto-config in order to configure contiguous memory, and you will need to do some math for the beginning and ending memory space.
Look up Set040, Addmem  and Romtagmem;  and good luck.
