heh, 3.1 on a A1000. That would be soooo cool...:cool:
Back in the early 90s, I used to do similar things on my A1000. I would boot from a 1.3 Kickstart floppy, then my Workbench floppy's startup-sequence would check the graphics.library (i think?) to see the version numbers, and if it was < the one for 2.04, it would skick (? my memory is hazy) the 2.04 kickstart rom into RAM. (I had 2.5mb ram in my Data Flyer, so there was enough space for it.)
Later on, I "acquired" a beta 3.0 rom, and did similar things with it.
It was quite awesome.
I still have that workbench/rekick/skick floppy kicking around. It eventually got merged into my 100mb hard disk, when I got that. Very handy!
