True, but with unencrypted it should work without anything special in user-startup

My router also accept connections only from those whos MAC addres is added there. If somebbody want to monitor my traffic he/she doesn't found anything interested, or he must be very interested things like this
ACube Sam 440ep Flex 800mhz, 1gb ram and 240gb hd and OS4.1FE
A1200 Micronic tower, OS3.9, Apollo 060 66mhz, xPert Merlin, Delfina Lite and Micronic Scandy, 500Gb hd, 66mb ram, DVD-burner and WLAN.
A1200 desktop, OS3.9, Blizzard 060 66mhz, 66mb ram, Ide Fix Express with 160Gb HD and WLAN
A500 OS2.1, GVP+HD8 with 4mb ram, 1mb chip ram and 4gb HD
Commodore CDTV KS3.1, 1mb chip, 4mb fast ram and IDE HD

Thank you all for the suggestions; I will be sure to try them out. I've already checked my SSID and WEP Key for accuaracy. Also, I do not have my router configured to filter connections based on MAC Address. And yes, I have it configured so my router's DHCP range starts at 192.168.1.120.

I could switch off the encryption temporarily for testing, but like I said before, SSID and WEP key are verified, so that's not it. I will check for the firmware, and perhaps see about upgrading AmiTCP.

There is a file named HermesII in Devs:Firmware, yes.

I will try following the AmiTCP guide next, along with new copies of prism2.device.

I haven't ever tried to conect encrypted network wiht my amigas.

Without encryption it just connects nearest WLAN automatically, no need to conficure SID etc.

WEB encryption is not real encryption, make your wlan open and scecify MAC addreses that can connect to it, it is better.

WEB key is easy to broke, but with that solution they cannot connect your WLAN, they can just monitor your http/ftp traffic, note that: not https

I can't win.

Installed AmiTCP and followed the guide in the thread. Also reinstalled prism2.device for good measure. What is happening now I don't think is related to that.

My 1200 won't boot.  All I get is a black screen, and the power led flashes a total of 7 times: 6 short, 1 long.

MAC address filtering is also trivial to crack. If somebody is wanting to crack your WEP encryption, he/she is not going to be slowed down by MAC filtering.

Well, that's moot. My accelerator died, so I don't have enough power or memory to even attempt going online. Guess I'll start searching for an affordable accelerator, though it might be a while before I can really afford it.

Be advised that in many cases Amiga won't boot (black screen) if PCMCIA Ethernet adapter is plugged when booting.
Remove the adapter and plug it in once you're in Workbench!

I didn't know that, as it always  used to boot with the card plugged in just fine. However, I did test it, and the machine only boots now when the accelerator is removed.

Yes I get that too. I have a hardware fix that fits over Gayle now so I'm trying that see if it makes a difference.

*sigh* And now it wants to work again. No complaints, but I wish I knew why it was acting so screwy.

I should clarify that I mean the 1200 and the accelerator are working, not the card. But I just had an epiphany and I'm an idiot. I know why the card doesn't work. It's 802.11b, and the router only supports 802.11g/n. thank you all for helping me, though. I do appreciate it.

Haha nice man. At least you can fix it easily by getting an Access point that could have a  network only for your Amiga and WEP that you'll open for some times (when Amiga is on)

Yeah, now that I know what the problem actually is, I know what I need to do to fix it. Since I'm certain that there is no 802.11g WiFi card with Amiga drivers (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong), it will either be a router replacement, or just going wired on the Amiga. Whatever I do, it of course means more money spent.

You might want to look into getting a router which supports multiple SSIDs, so you could have one secured (well as secure as wireless can be anyway) network for your modern hardware, and one open or WEP'ed network for your Miggy.

And yes, AFAIK b is the most modern you'll find in Amiga classic land.

Sorry for bumping a 10 day old thread, but I had to share, and what better place to share than in the thread I started about my WiFi connection problems.

I think the best way to say it is this. This post has been made from my A1200! :)

What was it ?

Also OT but seriously people, if somone wants to crack you wireless connection they will.  But the point of having even WEP is to stop people stealing your internet from next door. Your average Joe bloggs know no mopre than windows auto connecting to any un-secure routers.
