The Amiga keeps finding its way to me!
« on: July 09, 2011, 09:00:57 AM »
I am always amazed when the Amiga name comes up in unrelated searches. The other night I was researching power supplies and two links came up on the Amiga. OK that might not be that surprising, however tonight I was doing search on the up and coming new game Morrowind Elderscrolls V. I got no further than typing "Mo" when an automatic suggestion came up. And that was "Commodore 4091 SCSI" the only suggestion in the list! My search field is currently set to AVG, I'll have to try Google and other search engines. I am certain I did not type that before as I do not have a Amiga 4000. So it isn't left over from a previous search. :)

I typed in Amiga the other day and came up with a list of GAY porno sites. HMMM maybe I should try looking for something else.

Probably those suggestions are based on your previous browsing history.

Well that is just it, I don't think I did that search in the past recently. Although I may have and forgot. But other items later have came up in the list as I typed "Morr" that brought up other suggestions that were definitely generated by the search engine. eitherway it always makes me happy to see any Amiga reference come up.

How are you enjoying the FPGA Arcade? I am sure you have talked about it in other threads but I havn't been on Amiga.org for while.

I'm loving it!!!

I started testing some ADFs, but that got put on held when I decided to try and get ClassicWB 3.9 running on it.  Wizard had been trying to get a straight OS3.9 running with no success because there are still some bugs and/or non-implemented instructions in the soft 68020 core causing some programs/commands to guru... or worse!

It is definately the soft CPU because Jakub has no issues with OS3.9 using his 68060 card (and a real CPU).  I wonder how the Natami Team are progressing using their soft core CPU.  It would be interesting if they are having similar issues or whether they have already corrected them.

Anyway, between the 2 of us, I managed to get a large part of ClassicWB 3.9 running on the FPGA Arcade and the Chameleon64!  Unfortunately, none of the preferences windows will open, certain applications can't be run in Workbench Start-up, some parts of the startup-sequence have to be disabled and some commands such as MAKEDIR and IPREFS have had to be replaced with older versions...

Classic WB Lite works great though on the Minimig, Chameleon64 and FPGA Arcade with WHDLoad.  :)

Everything is on hold for the moment because I've been dragged back to work for 16 days.

@Darrin

Yes that would be interesting to see how it would behave on a real 030-060 cpu. I wonder if WB 3.1 would be easier to get working on the FPGA since it has a soft 020 core? I need to read up more on the FPGA Arcade, is there a slot to plug in a 060 accelerator? Would older, say A1200 accelerators possibly work. another thing I am confused on is the power adapter board, when I look at the photos on the site I see the 20 pin ATX connector plugged into the FPGA main board and the wires going into the power adapter card but is the circuit board on the side that is plugged into the power adapter the actual PSU?
