Cybervision 64/3D and Indivision
« on: July 03, 2011, 02:40:54 PM »
Since the Cybervision 64/3D has a header to plug the SD/FF add-on into the main board for pass through, auto switching and, best of all, sharing one monitor, I was wondering if the Indivision AGA (since it uses a header anyway) could be plugged into that instead of the VGA header.

The 64/3D has a 2x5 pin header and the Indivision also has a 2x5 pin header.

I'm not so naïve as to think I could just take a cable and connect the two right out of the box and have it work. Pin outs would have to be realigned first off because I seriously doubt they used the exact same pin-to-pin layout. Would be nice though…:)

Other than that though, is there anything else that would keep them from working together?

Does anyone have experience with this?

The header is an output, not an input.

You could utilize it to connect the CV and Indivision to an internally mounted switcher, one of the pins in the header is toggled high <-> low depending on whether you have an RTG or custom chip screen visible.

Really?  I had one ages ago and could have sworn the VGA cable plugged into the 64/3D card output, not the SD/FF...

@ Jope:

Found the info and you sir are CORRECT!

Got this at the Amiga Hardware Database:

- optional modules
   monitor switch & scan doubler
allows using one monitor for Amiga and CyberVision modes
doubles native Amiga 15 kHz modes to 31 kHz
connects to the video slot in one line with the CyberVision
a small ribbon cable attaches the cards
              HD15 VGA connector

So eventhough it doesn't say it in the breakdown/info, the title clearly states that it is a monitor switch.:(

But I guess that means we could use the 64/3D internal header for an internal switch right?

:) HAH!  When I made my last post, I was actually thinking of your switch!  If I get a 64/3D AGAIN  and the Indivision for the A4000T comes out,  I will so need your cool switcher!

BTW, do the pins line up perfectly for this or are you using a modified PCB/cable to be able to mound and connect it to the 64/3D?  I ask because you mentioned several times in other threads that you need to know what we were connecting to the switch when we order it from you.

I know!  The only reason I can see them not wanting to do it is because they already have a monitor switch solution for sale on their site.

What I don't get is that one looks really basic (not auto switching IIRC), costs about the same as Ratte's, is bulky and has been out of stock forever and a day!

On the other hand, I'm not them and don't know why they choose not to sell his switcher, so I can't really pass any judgment one way or another.  I'm just sad no one picked it up is all.:(
