Free 1020 Floppy 5.25
« on: July 01, 2011, 12:05:31 AM »
It is missing the knob dang it! I will test it out if you have an interest. You pay shipping, it's well, a boat anchor.

If I had the knob I'd be selling it. :(

Would the knob from a busted 1541II or a 1571 work?

Will try to test it this weekend. It powers up but didn't not respond to my DF1 DOS driver I put int here; I think because of funkyness the ICD shuffle board is doing...

Need to hook it up to my A3000...

Yes.  I have several 1571s and a couple of 1020s, and the assemblies are pretty much the same, and I have swapped knobs from them.  (Ew, that sounds dirty...)

Uh, something is not right, and it's probably me.

I followed this thread and made a DF1: DOS Driver and put it in devs/Dosdrivers and that seems ok.

http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=11944

I do a mount DH1:

Then a cd DH1: and  hit return

and then I get the directory of my SYS: drive ? HUH?

Then I tried a few other variations, changing the name to DF2: or A1020:

Does the same thing. In fact I can type in any old thing and my A3000 says
it's ok:

mount totalbullshit:
cd totalbullshit:
dir

I get the SYS: directory no matter what. It doesn't even seems to care about what is in devs/dosdrivers/

This use to be easy...

Ah I got it going, it likes DF2:!

I did the old school devs/mountlist entry for a DF2: device with the unit set to 2
and things all came to life.

read the disk that's in there, pictures of speed racer and racer X - COOL!

It's just a device name, you can call them shirley: if you like.

However the unit number IS critical, especially if you connect it to a big box Amiga, where the first external drive is unit 2: :-)

That's what I realize now, the unit number was key to talking to the thing.

Read 64 discs, actually I think the drives work at different speeds and you would need to modify the A1020 to do that:

If i remember correctly the 1020 was for reading IBM type Disks (MFM) not C64 type Disks (GCR).
