amiga 500/600 games on 1200. and amiga game setup
« on: June 27, 2011, 01:42:58 PM »
Hi all

New to the forums as well as the Amiga :)
I got a question about gaming on the Amiga 1200. I am planning on buying a amiga 1200 soon in the next few months. But I wanted to know if certain games that say its compatible with the 500/600 will work on the 1200?
The games in question are:
Lotus III
Crazy cars 3 or lamborghini american challenge

Also out of curiosity, how does everyone setup their amiga? I know back in the days when we had the C64, it was on a desk with a small TV on the same desk to play games on...er I mean do homework... :D
But I am planning for space in my room but dont have another a spare desk as thats been used for a PC. It might tiresome to take it out the box and plug in all the cables every time I wanted to use it.

Try using the Search function on the WHDLoad website.  WHDLoad is about the most complete collection of hard-drive installers for the A1200.  The installers not only patch the games to run from the hard drive, they also patch incompatibilities for the AGA graphics chipset.

-edit-
One thing you'll want to get WHDLoad to work, some FAST memory.  Usually the way to get FAST memory isntalled is to add an accelerator card to the A1200.

Amiga people use a proper RGB Monitor not a lame TV set.  Sorry if the truth hurts :)
Wanna try a wonderfull strategy game with lots of handdrawn anims,
Magic Spells and Monsters, Incredible playability and lastability,
English speech, etc. Total Chaos AGA

Hi,
I'm not sure about the specific games you mentioned, but as I  remember when I upgraded from a 500 to a 1200, at least 95% of my games still worked.

Any good places to buy theses cards or memory from? what can I expect to pay?
