Using Atari SC1224 with Amiga
«
on:

I've seen posts on this, but oh so vague. Anyone tried this or made a cable that works. better still, have anyone tried any pre-made cable/adapters that work?
I'm thinking of trying a hack of the Atari VGA cable in combination with the Amiga vga adapter to bridge the SC1224 13poin side to VGA then to the Amiga 23 pin.
Ideas?

Have you seen this?:
http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/176261-is-the-atari-sc1224-monitor-compatible-with-any-other-computer/
It looks like others have/are trying to do this with that monitor with mixed results. There is a dude towards the end of a post who has it hooked to his A600, might be worth contacting him.

I did see that thread. Maybe I'll get in touch with him. Seems like it should be possible. Obviously it's probably as limited as using a 1084 with the Amiga. Thing is, I own the sc1224 and it's really sharp and could work well with the Amiga till the new Indivision AGA MKII is out.
I really need to find a decent solution to this. I did manage to get one of my old LCDs to work, but I need the thing for my Mac. And it's was not a nice display at that.

I had one years and years ago on my A500 after the ST died.
If I remember correctly, I just wired it up to an Amiga 23pin connector based on the two different pinouts, R to R, G to G, etc.

I believe it's probably that simple. The scan rates are the same and the low-res and 'high' res (medium for Atari) are identical. I think super high res should also work.
I was able to coble a bunch of adapters together and got a weak and dark picture so I think it's a matter of getting the config right.

It's a standard 15 kHz RGB monitor with compatible (separate) sync - the problem is a purely electrical one. SuperHires will work but give no decent results due to dot pitch limitations.

True, I have the JVC version with the sharpest screen so 640 pixels is very sharp. I assume super high res will look like a antialiased medium resolution.
I'll update with my results when my new cable gets in.

With AGA you can use SuperHires to generate better color accuracy for HAM8 but apart from that it's probably pretty useless with a 14" 15 kHz monitor.

I just used this kind of wire to connect Atari SC1224 monitor with my Amiga 500, 600.
