Monitor cable Dsub to 23 pin
« on: December 24, 2003, 08:42:49 PM »
Hi all,
Could someone please assist me to find the correct colour to pin numbers for my  monitor lead.
I have got this lead off Ebay but when received; it was faulty, it was home built and looks a mess. I need a proper guide to solder it correctly.
Thanx
Pete

You mean you want to connect a VGA monitor to an Amiga? You need special hw for that. To connect the Amiga to a TV (SCART) is quite easy and can be found by googling with "HwB Amiga to Scart"
-edit- the Amiga video pin-out can be found there too I think

This the cable I bought, its not a scart. I know very little about the technical stuff, but I can do a bit of soldering. Its this lead that has the 9 pin D side and the 23 pin D and all I want to know is what colours go to what numbers. I think the above info should suffice, thank you.

Hi Pete,

NO, NO it isn't a scart socket.

It is a 23 pins Amiga to 9 pins sub-D sockets

Try a Search for those particular cable (some A108x monitor uses it).

Ciao

Sub-D 9 pins monitors:

             Analog
Pin Number   RGB Analog Mode

1            Ground
2            Ground
3            Red
4            Green
5            Blue
6            N/C
7            Composite Sync

1084 Sub-Models

Thanx so much for your help, I am getting there, and will let you know of my successful outcome.
I'll have a go after eating this big bird.

Cheers Pete

BTW I have 3 PC's and 3 Amiga's here in two rooms. I don't know why I bother with the old stuff, but its nostalgia I suppose, I had some good times in my Amiga days and like to re-live some of the past.
My Mrs thinks the house is a mess because of all the computer guts all over the place, but I'm afraid my computers come before my Mrs

Ok, I sorted it and the cable works fine now, but just as expected there is a fault with the monitor. (There is no Green) This fault is NOT caused by the cable; as I have a bran new factory built cable and its still red.

Can you please tell me if this problem is DIY repairable, because if I take it in; it will cost me £30 in labour, a £20 deposit and then parts.

Hi Pete,

check the monitor with another Amiga.

If the monitor is gone, Vesalia sells M1438 Multiscan monitors, for 60 Eur or so.

Ciao

Hi Pete,

mmhh . . .sold out, pity.

Use a 14" TV-set with RGB-SCART or search on Ebay for a M1438 (multiscan=better) or an A1084S (15 Khz only).

Good luck :-)
