WHDLoad compatibility w/ A2000 question
« on: May 25, 2011, 09:21:14 PM »
I have an A2000 with 1MB CHIP / 4MB 16-bit FAST. It is fitted w/ an A2620 68020 accelerator that has an additional 2MB of 32-bit FAST.

I tested out 3-4 WHDLoad game titles (pre-AGA) and only one of them shows no issues. I get no video after intro sequence on the others more or less.

Should this setup not be capable of running non-AGA games just fine? What could be going on here.

Thanks.

It sounds like it should have (just) enough oomph to pull that off.  On my A4000 (2M chip 16M fast) which hovers around 14M dips down to 10 when I run most WHD titles.  It could be that you just need some more fastram.

Maybe the games are PAL? More Fastram wouldn't hurt either.

Got anything else running? WHDLoad won't work if TCP/IP or USB is active at the same time.

Try some tooltypes, too - the ones that usually work for me are PAL, NOCACHE, NOAUTOVEC, and (as a last resort because it disables the Quit feature) NOVBRMOVE. With that accelerator NOMMU might help, too.

Shouldn't this A2000 020 have way enough power to do WHdLoad ECS stuff? 32-bit CPU at double clock for ECS games. No?
