Mouse & floppy problems on A500
« on: May 25, 2011, 11:56:03 AM »
Can anyone help with my problems

Mouse
One of my A500s (rev 6 board)
move the mouse in any direction and it goes down and right - no up or left
i have tried two mice with the same problem.

The mice work fine on another A500

Floppy
Same A500 put in a disk eg "Workbench" and after much clicking as if loading tell mes the disk is "Not a DOS disk" but use an old demo etc which isn't a standard disk format and it will load it happily.
I can use an external to load the same DOS disk so dont think its the disk

Can anyone help/advise

Tried that no joy
on the good news side I have got it working with a serial mouse
Thanks for the idea - I thought that was only for serial/printer problems

The cia chip's (one of them) does help with mouse joystick control and floppy. I think maybe paula chip ( i could be wrong, maybe gary) has some thing to do with floppy as well as sound. try swapping that too!

The mouse problem could be caused by U15. It's a 74ls157. It could be bad, or there might be a problem with the connection between pin 4 on U33 and pin 1 on U15.

The floppy problem is most likely a dirty or dying drive.
