ATX PSU recommendation
« on: May 16, 2011, 11:38:37 AM »
Hello fellow amigans.

I am in an urgent need of a new PSU for my A4000D and i am looking for recommendation for suitable ATX PSU to use with the adapter from amigakit.

I have been told that not all ATX PSU would have a strong enough +5V line.

Before i buy anything, i need recommendations from you about specific model to look after.
I would also like to have a PSU with a switch to actually power down the PSU, as those ATX things are always on, even with the switch from amigakit.

I think that 12,5 cm wide PSU should fit the screw holes of the A4000 case.

Thanks for your advice.

If someone is selling a perfect PSU ready to use, i might be interested too.
Note that my A4000 is charged to the max and need pure juice.

:-)

Does an ATX power supply fit inside the A3000/4000 physically considering holes for screws etc?

good power supply makers give you the vital statistics to check all volts lines they do. Not sure if amiga kit use good ones or just cheap oem atx psu.

I'm having a look of all that but it would be better that someone who already use an ATX PSU with no +5V problem confirm a PSU brand for us all.

I've bought two from CPC (300W unbranded) and never had any problems with them powering my main set up... :)

Blizzard060/PPC 60Mhz/240Mhz 256MB RAM, 2 x 500GB HDs, 2 x DVD/CD Re-Writers, FastATA MKIII, SubWay USB, Cocolino Wirless Mouse Adapter, Custom Built 8W Audio Amp

and it's still got plenty left to power things like the Vidi 24RT, Card Readers, Midi boards, Audio Digitisers, Rendale Genlock... :)

Never had a problem with lack of power yet (or the PSU failing)...:)
