Card Reader Issues
« on: May 07, 2011, 02:08:09 PM »
Hello everyone,

I am a newbie to this forum and need some help and guidance. I recently bought a PCMCIA Compact Flash PC CF Card Adapter to use with my A1200 so that i can copy my own games onto floppies. My Flash Card is 2GB so there's plenty of room to store ADF files. I plugged the card adapter into the side of the 1200 but it's not showing up on the Amiga when switched on.

Any help would be much appreciated but please go steady with the technical jargon because I might not understand it all :)

Rachel

Unfortunately the technical jargon is sometimes hard to avoid.  If all else fails, AmigaKit sells an easy to use setup.

Hi,

You don't say what kind of adapter you bought. The PCMCIA on the A1200 has a major problem with the reset command. You might have to buy the PCMCIA fix from Amigakit (http://www.amigakit.com) called the Amiga 1200 pcmcia cc_reset fix. The next thing you might want to buy is the Easy ADF, this gives you the software set up for the Amiga 1200 to transfer files.

Now if you bought an pcmcia cf card adapter for a pc laptop, I have bad news it probably won't work because of the lack of software, I may be wrong. Hopefully one of these fine other Amiga loonies that hang out here will be able to help you.

But by buying the two things I mentioned above I know that works because I use them.
