Is there such a thing, is my grammer bad, or is it all a farse and all adaptors are the same?

Well, The adapters bear nothing on speed.

The speed comes from the controlling interface, and the device being used, and always works to the SLOWEST device in the link.

Now for the Amiga, the slowest device will be the IDE Interface (in the A1200/A4000), as most devices will be able work faster than the interface.  That is why you have add on devices with their own ram and Storage controllers, they can operate faster than the inbuilt interfaces on the machine.
