Need info about Amiga 1000 "Rejuvenator" board...
« on: December 19, 2003, 01:25:22 AM »
Anyone have an A1000 Rejuvenator or Rejuvenator II board or know anything about them?  Seeking info.  Have a desire to build up an A1000 with one of these boards.  Please let me know anything you can about these boards.

Is there a review in an old AmigaWorld someone could scan or somthing?  Thanks.

Thanks - yea I had done that search.  Looking for more info.  Like -- is the only diff between Rejuvenator and Rejuvenator II the 2MB CHIP RAM on the latter?  Are there NTSC A1000's that the Rejuvenators won't work with?  Is a Rejuvenator w/ 1.3 ROM going to be able to run the same apps as an A500 with similar custom chips?

Thanks.

Hello,

I own a Rejuvinator I  and have had no problems with NTSC. I am running a  1 MB FAT Agnus. and Kickstart 3.1.

I did try using the System with a Kickstart 1.3 ROM and had no problems with games as long as the game recognised 1 MB of Chip RAM.

I dio wire 2 switches to the front panel beside the RAm expansion cover, a PAL/NTSCX Switch and a 512/1MB Switch.

The Rejuvinator replaces the Daughterboard inside the A1000. You may still want to do the Pal grounding fix though.

Cheers

Shaf

If you consider building an all-beefed up-A 1000, also try  looking for a Phoenix replacement-board ("A 1000 ECS+"), which also runs fine the old games, except a very few very picky ones. But these will have problems with the Rejuvenator as well.

Also keep in mind that not all Amigas have that daughterboard. I dont know if its a PAL/NTSC-thing, but only the first european A1000s had the daugterboard, soon they only had just one mainboard.

Have fun,
McTrinsic

Is the Rejuvenator not from Phoenix?  I see indications that it is from another "Expert Services" here and there - but I assume they bought Phoenix or something.  Maybe it's this "A1000 ECS+" I am remembering from the pre-90's "AmigaWorlds that spoke of basically a full upgrade to the A1000.  Any info links for this device (A1000 ECS+)?  I will do a google on it.

Which makes the unit more like an Amiga 2000 or 500 as far as compat. w/ most 1.3 applications?  (I have an A2000 w/ 3.1 ROM's - prob would not take the A1000 beyond 1.3 ROM's).

Thanks for any info here.

Replying to myself here.  Found some info on the Phoenix A1000 ECS+ replacement motherboard.

http://www.amiga-hardware.com/a1000phoenix.html

Only 500-1000 of these were produced, apparently.  I would love to get hold of one of these or at least a Rejuvenator / Rejuvenator II -- if anyone has any info on how to get hold of one of these, please let me know.

There really wasn't ever a Rejuvenator II. The circuitry for using a 2 meg Agnus was always on the board. I upgraded my 1 meg Rejuvenator to a 2 meg model by swapping Agnus and memory chips and resetting a jumper.

It was one tough piece of equipment! It's still working, though the 1000's broken SCSI still hasn't been fixed due to a lack of time.

Rejuvenators are a real thrill to install. Line up over 100, one inch long gold pins simultaneously before sliding the board down.

I think Ross Y has one of the late 1000's with no daughterboard. But most of the 1000's did come with the daughterboard, so they'll work with a Rejuvenator.

NTSC is no problem.
