You don't have enough RAM. It cannot build the bitmap for such a large partition with just 300 KB free memory.

You didn't need to format it again. It was already formatted, only the bitmap was not valid. It validated the bitmap automatically on reboot when enough RAM was available.

The next step is running games from the GAMES HDD.

How do I install/play WHD Games & how do I play ADF's?

ADFs are disk images.  To play them on a real Amiga, you need to write them back to a floppy on an Amiga..  Using transadf or some similar tool..

For WHDLoad, the easiest way is to install whdload first (obviously) and then find the premade whload games.  Transfer them over to the Amiga HD and extract them...
Then, all you do is click on the icon and the game starts...

Amiga 500 w/ 2M CHIP and 8M FAST RAM, DCTV, AEHD floppy, and 1084S.
Amiga 1000 w/ 4M FAST RAM, DUAL CF hard drives, external floppy.

Do you have the software installed to use the PCMCIA card reader? If not, you will need to download this software and transfer it to your Amiga either by putting the CF card back in the PC or by using a 720kb PC formatted floppy disk.

First you'll need LHA, the most popular archive format on the Amiga.

http://aminet.net/package/util/arc/lha

This is a self-extracting archive, it will give you a few different versions of LHA. Since you're using an A600, you'll need to rename the 68k version to just "LHA" and copy it to your C drawer in the Workbench boot partition. But that's just the first step, then you need to get the latest version of LHA and extract that with the version you just installed! Get it here:

http://aminet.net/package/util/arc/lha_68k

Double click on this file once it's on your Amiga, and it should open an "Execute Command" prompt with "lha_68k" in it. You need to change it so it says "lha x lha_68k Games:" and it should extract it to your Games: partition, then you just do the same, rename the 68k version to just "LHA" and drop it in the C drawer, overwriting the original. Then you can delete all those temporary files.

If you can't ever see files, you might need to select "Show - All Files" from the Window menu.

For your PCMCIA adapter, you need these files:

http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/cfd
http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/fat95
http://aminet.net/package/util/boot/CardReset
http://aminet.net/package/util/boot/CardPatch

Each one should include documentation on how to install.

Now you can extract WHDLoad, which you can download from here:

http://whdload.de

There is an installer included, so you can just run that. If you don't have the Installer tool installed, you will have to get it off of the Workbench Install disk, from the C drawer, and copy it into your Workbench partition's C drawer.

Documentation for WHDLoad is on the website, including brief installation instructions:

http://whdload.de/docs/en/install.html

Do you have the software installed to use the PCMCIA card reader? IT CAME WITH A FLOPPY BUT THE FILES SAY ERROR WHEN I TRY & RUN THEM.

If not, you will need to download this software and transfer it to your Amiga either by putting the CF card back in the PC. THE CF IN THE PCMCIA OR THE HARD DRIVE INSIDE?

First you'll need LHA, the most popular archive format on the Amiga. I HAVE DOWNLOADED THIS BUT DO I RUN IT IN WINUAE?

Can you break it down a little simpler - I am a total noob in case you have not noticed LOL

Sorry Cammy but that seems well difficult as I am a total novice, and I am a totally lost. (I thought I did well installing the WB)

Is there not a step by step guide or a youtube video on this?

I looked on youtube but I couldnt find anything as that would be easier, maybe someone can make one?

Thanks guys

Just a quick check : You have a CF Card HD with a Games partition and you want to copy games onto your partition?
It looks like you are used to doing the WinUAE shuffle so you can just install WHDload and copy your fav Amiga 600 compatible game ADFs onto the A600 CF drive while on your WinUAE PC.
To play the ADFs native you need to either write them to a Amiga floppy from your A600 with ADF2DISK as Desiv suggested, or you can play around with DiskImage 2 to create virtual floppies.

Suggest you get WHDLoad working in WinUAE first before moving your CF back to the A600 hardware.

Hi gertsy,

Yer I have a CF Card HD with a GAMES partition that I wanna copy the games to.

I have WHDLoad working on my PC using the Gamebase frontend. I just click the game I wanna play & WinUAE fires up and loads the game.

I am thinking if I sellect a game using Gamebase, interupt it (F12) add my CF and boot into Workbench, will the game be still there and I can copy the files to me GAMES partition?
