Rough pricing of my a1200

Hopefully it wont come to it, but money problems (and frustration with my amiga) are making me consider selling my a1200. Just wondering what a reasonable price is for an a1200 + 40mhz '040 accelerator (apollo1240 with mach131 chip and socketed cpu) + 32meg fast, 10 gig hdd, pcmcia network card, star cursor joystick, mouse, a500 power supply, about a dozen original cd titles, about the same in original floppy titles (withy manuals, boxes,etc.), some amiga programming manuals and about 500 floppy disks.
I was thinking (hoping) for around $500. Does this seem reasonable and/or likely ?

You'd make more selling them all separately the Apollo alone would fetch over £200 here in the UK...

I've noticed on ebay folk selling complete A1200 systems never get the price they're looking for and often re-list the parts separately after they fail to sell first time as a system, with the result being often hundreds more pounds than they'd have got for the complete system if it had sold...

I bet you're going to want to find a local buyer though with all that classic goodness. People often get turned off by the cost of shipping these days, especially on frivolous stuff like bulk floppy disks. Or they'll simply tell you to keep the disks, but send the hardware.   :lol:

And yeah, not just for shipping reasons, but Franko is absolutely right. Unless you happen to know someone locally that could take all that stuff off your hands, you're going to be way better off parting her out. You'll end up making more money AND your stuff will move faster.

Yeah, I expected that Id get more to split it, but while money is an issue, Id still rather sell it all together to an amiga person. Floppies I dont mind making an exception for. Really though I dont even want to sell it, but getting my amiga on the network is really pissing me off, and I have no interest in a machine I cant use on a network and am getting sick of swapping harddrives over (and the tedious process) to simply copy files to my amiga (of which there's usually a few every day). If I could get my network going I wouldnt even be thinking about it, but by now Im absolutely pissed with it all. I just hope I dont smash it before I get to sell it, which isnt unlikely. Right now it's not just useless, but annoying me to a point that swearing profusely at it seems reasonable (but I'll refrain from saying what Im really thinking ).

I've told the sellers that on four of the A1200s I've bought in the past few weeks, it didn't reduce the postage though but I would have just ended up putting the floppies in the bin as I never use them...

Hmmm... not sure why your swapping HDs around, but if your main problem is transferring downloaded files from the net to your Amiga, just add a CD/DVD drive or a USB card and you'll be able to do it easily...

Unfortunaely that would require money, of which I have none. Only managed to get ahold a network card because it was my birthday a few days ago and I have no money until mid april besides that.

It's only my actual amiga Im contemplating selling. I still have my amithlon/os3.9 box. Even if I sell my classic Im not going anywhere

I knew it, see you went too far... 040 is not so great for older games. What was your head set on doing? I finally closed the lid on my A3000 this Sun and actually started writing a new mod with midi and all. The tune kinda sucked but it was starting to be useful/fun. And cleaned up one table too, whoohoo!

Actually I dont have a lot of interest in older games. I went on a bit of a nostalgia trip when I 1st got the accelerator, but its definately not a priority. Im more interested in creating my own stuff, gfx, and to a lesser extent music. The '040 Im completely happy with (well, minus the fact that assuming I dont sell it I'll upgrade to an '060). The biggest problem/concern is that its a massive pain in the butt for me to transfer any files, which is something that comes up at least once a day and Im pretty much over swapping drives.

I was like wow, I'm thinking about it just to edit simple backgrounds and stuff on the Amiga with out having to take another USB stroll...

Couldn't agree with you more on that one, it's costing me a small fortune right now replacing all the stuff from eBay that I sold or gave away over the years, lesson learned, never again...

I don't regret selling any of my 1200s, not even the one I went at with gray vinyl dye and installed a CDTV keyboard in.

The only one I miss a bit is the 3000T.
