Speaking of new content we offered to include the original version of Aladdin 4D (Draw 4D 1.0) and PDF manual with Amiga Forever some time ago. Hopefully Cloanto will take us up on it someday.

Perhaps they use AROS on x86, amd64, PPC or ARM based machines, therefore 68k has no use for them?

Or, like me, they never donate to bounties, prefer ring to donate directly to programmers whose work they appreciate?

Or perhaps they're just a bunch of skinflints who's mouths are bigger than their wallets...

Personally I wouldn't donate to a "bounty" myself, to me if your going to write something for the Amiga you should just go ahead and do it, there is no excuse for asking folk to donate money for something that may never even come to fruition... :)

If someone writes something for the Amiga they can do so and release it for free, if they want to make some money from it then via the magic of the web they can try and sell it to those who are willing to pay, bounties to me are  just simply something that shouldn't be allowed as at the end of the day writing a piece of code doesn't involve money... :)

One final question if you can answer it, Workbench the name what was that all about, did / do you have plans for the Workbench Trademark

The use of "Workbench" in Amiga Forever is covered in some detail here:

http://www.amigaforever.com/kb/15-108

At some point during the various ups and downs of Amiga events it seemed more prudent to focus on using "Workbench" as an operating system name. It's not a new "plan", as Amiga Forever has for example been using "Workbench", "Workbench 1.3" and "Workbench 3.X" for years to indicate different operating systems versions, with the usual trademark legalese.

In an ideal world one would perhaps not need to worry about such things, but a project like Amiga Forever always had to deal with a diversity of real world challenges on different sides, ranging from potential risks that might become blocking factors, to expectations of all things being free. At the end it's only passion and support by other Amiga friends that makes us still move forward in spite of this, as there are a lot of headaches for a "market" that is a small niche. That's also why it feels good to see some support on forums like here. :-)

and do you have any plans to have Aros a[ ]part of Amiga forever?

Amiga Forever has supported and included third-party ROMs (e.g. Dialoga diagnostic system by Logica) and operating system "flavors" (e.g. AmiKit, AmigaSYS) for some time now, and I would expect it to allow more people to experience AROS in a similar way, if possible.

Cheers.  I tend to update my Amiga Forever package by buying a new version every few years.  I have the 2011 package, so thanks for the free update.

I agree the ROMs should have been available for free since a long time... At least the ROMs: I understand there can be legal problems with other software (ex.: ARexx, Translator,...).

It's been released almost 25 years ago... Fortunately AROS will soon fill the gap, and at the same time get a real use :)

I'm sure most people can handle the $9.95 price.

And it's great there is a product like Amiga Forever which still gets such excellent support from its creator.  So many abandoned Amiga products (both hardware and software) have no official support remaining, but so many dedicated users, it's like post-apocalyptic computing sometimes.

Actually your right, I have not supported this bounty yet, unless you count me buying Amiga Forever and then in turn Cloanto have supported the Bounty. But any way I have paid up $10 towards the efforts.

Plus also I have supported a number of other bounties (JIT for OS4, Sam For Developers, Send Amizilla to Amiwest, etc) I do what I can and only with bounties that do interest me, look very likely that they are going to achieve their goals and that I feel the developers needs/deservers the money to motivate them a bit.

I kind of agree with you, but I think most of these bounties are just extra little rewards to the developers who might of taken on the project regardless of the money any way, but it gives them a nice intensive to keep going and its a way to say thanks to the developers for their efforts.

I agree and would only ever donate to project that will release the end product free and open sourced so that other people can either befit from it or continue on the project, like JIT for OS4 might help MorpthOS too.

Most of these bounties are to port software that is already free and open source and so can not be sold, like Timberwolf and besides who expect to pay for a web browser or JIT emulator when these things are free on the other platforms. Also if the developers did charge for it their might be out cry, example what if the Kickstart Replacement Rom had a small fee, people would be calling for it to be made free and may even go as far as piracy and post it on a site for free for other to get, not that expect you to do such a thing:roflmao:

While agree in part with some of the other things you said in your post, you couldn't be more wrong about me making the Kickstart Replacement Rom available on my site if it were to be released for a small fee... :)

My whole point about setting the ROMS free is quite simply because there is no easy way to purchase them legally anymore, other than buying Cloantos Amiga Forever, while it's a good product for those that need it, for those that don't need an emulator then it's not fair to have to purchase something you don't require and will never use in order to just get hold of the ROM images... :(

If the ROM images or the Replacement ROMs were available to purchase easily online by themselves at a fair price then I would gladly pay for them, but as long as this nonsense over licensing fees/copyright/IP and the stranglehold of a few greedy companies prevails in stopping the easy distribution of the ROM images then I shall continue to support and applaud sites that make them freely available... :)

I would apply the same arguments to the Workbench disk sets too... :)
