Sam 440 667 in the US just checking
« on: February 27, 2011, 01:16:17 AM »
What is the going rate for a Sam 440 Flex 667 MB with 1 Gig ram OS4.1 and a Radeon 9250? I bought it from Amigakit when they first came out and it has been babied ever since. I'm just checking - if I sold it and perhaps another classic system the money would go straight back to Amigakit for a Sam 460. I'll never afford the X1000 so that's out and I already have MorphOS for my mini registered as well as many classic systems.

This would probably be my last OS4 hardware upgrade if it happens.

It's actually a completely built system in an Antec NSK 3480 case (with original shipping box), a sata DVD-RW, and a 160 Gig sata HD right now. I could part it or not depending on buyers wants - needs.  Or you could all talk me out of it but I am really wanting a 460.

http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?id=MzM=

I just logged in to Amigakit and I paid $881.45 on May 23, 2009, the case and DVD-RW were purchased locally for about another $120.00. I think I have about $1000.00 in to it.

I have been on here for 8 years or so and several people on Amiga.org can vouch for me as reliable when it comes to buying and selling things.

Thanks,
Jeff

Well, it's a nice system and at this point more solid than the 460 from what I have read (IE no problems with on board SATA, ECT)  Thanks again for the replies. I'll certainly entertain offers.  I would REALLY prefer not to ship it overseas though.

a little less than a year ago i purchased a gently used SAM440ep-flex board (running at 667MHz), 512MB of RAM, a radeon 9250 video card, and OS4.1, for $600 USD. of course that was on ebay -- but the seller had listed it also on AWN.

That's a pretty good deal!  How do you like the system so far? What case did you choose?

I was gonna say about $600 myself since that is about what I been thinking about spending for an Amiga compatible myself.  Almost tempted to make a firm offer of $600 + shipping but part of me holding back saying for my 1st modern Amiga I should go the newer 460 or I may kick myself for not doing so but the other side says if I can find a real nice complete ready to use older model for about $600 I would do it as my 1st system.

I am too new to Amiga that I really need to buy a ready to go system versus buying a board and making my own since I know very little about OS 4.1 or even AmigaOS in general so an older 440 Flex would probably work for me.

i love it. it has become the machine i use for virtually everything non-productive, i.e., e-mail, videos, sound recording, games, IRC, etc.  at first it was in a huge apevia ATX tower but has since migrated to a much smaller antec NSK-1380.  i'd like to go smaller, but i need the ability to use full-height PCI cards.

good luck with the sale!

uh I know you want to sell your board but I'd stay clear of such comments as ACube has proved that they provide quality products with great support

Sorry, it certainly wasn't meant as a slam. When I first purchased my Sam Flex the full 1 Gig or ram wouldn't work properly. They (all involved) fixed it with a software update very quickly and it has worked fine ever since.

I simply meant that with a new system there will be some time working out bugs, both by end users, and software - hardware developers. I didn't even think of it being received like that so I pulled the comment.  Whether you choose to do the same with your post is up to you.

Thanks for your input.
