Even with the Indivision Amiga is slower! Amazing! :)

BTW ADOOM has been ported to the Dreamcast and runs quite well aside of when it needs to load from disc, though SD Card readers are on the way so discs will soon be a thing of the past as far as Homebrew is concerned.

Possibly because:

The TI-Nspire and TI-Nspire CAS both use a TI-NS2006A controller clocked at 90 MHz.

Really?! My Amiga is THAT behind the times hugh? Crazy! I never thought I'd see pocket calculators so fast! What's the need?

How does Indivision affect Doom speed in any way?

Hmm, wonder what kind of math problem that requires you to run Doom...

If I need some serious processing grunt in an electronics project I use the LPC1768, that runs at 90Mhz and only costs about $7... I've really fallen in love with ARM chips recently :)

It gets crazier, not only does it have a 32bit 90mhz arm, but also a 200mhz DSP and 32MB ram. So it's no big deal it can run doom, the bloody thing should be able to run quake!

Now my old Psion revo was running doom on a 36mhz arm 7, with 8mb ram. That ran it quite well too.

I thought they had released some new version of Adoom that uses the memory of the Indivison for a faster chunkey to plannar mode ?

Or is that for the unreleased MKII.

Maybe the OP getting confused.  I Know I am :)

http://aminet.net/package/game/shoot/ADoom-1.4

Still not full speed without a border, but it's 256 colors, comes in fine full screen and not in the top left hand corner of the screen, plus performance is better than launching aDOOM without the Indivision options.

Basically it's Graffitti all over again, at least from my uninformed layman's perspective.

Ah new Indivision ECS features. Something like this wouldn't be possible with the old indivision AGA design.

Quite neat, though it would be even cooler to have real CGX drivers for it.

Well...

A: I'm now saddened by my recent Indivision AGA purchase.

B: I'm TOTALLY with you on the whole CGX Drivers bit! A graphics card for 600's would be the cat's meow!

Hmmm, an A3000 with with a nice 040 and an Indivison ECS with an RTG driver... Could be the Ultimate Clasic Amiga!!! :-o :)

The only time I ever play doom these days is on my GBA. Nice version, runs plenty quick enough too.

Classic console versions ran stripped down versions of the PC iWAD files.

I.E. On the Sega 32X, the enemies are missing sprites so that they are always facing you.

Likewise, you'll notice that not all levels are the same. Some have been made shorter, the enemy count reduced, etc.

Perhaps by removing some Flats (floors), using DeHacked to remove enemy bodies and playing the game at lower difficulty levels the game could be sped up enough to play at a decent speed on the 600. Not a project I'm willing to undertake, but it would be quite easy to pull off and perhaps worth it to those who are not so anal when it come to the DOOM playing experience as I am. ;)

Though I will say, growing up, I've had plenty of fun playing through various console renditions.

I don't think the base 600 will manage anything other than a wolf clone.
Shame they never released a level/graphics editor for citadel. i'm sure that engine could be bodged to look and play a lot like doom.
