Color Issues
« on: February 16, 2011, 04:54:28 PM »
Hello To All,

I hope this isn't to bad of a question. I have a amiga 2000 that I just built and upgraded to OS 3.5
Maching has 10 megs of ram, 68030 and 540 Meg hard drive. Machine runs great. All programs look and run well from the toaster software to graphics good color. Whats driving me nuts and yes it is a short drive is that the operating system has no color at all except blue and gray. It almost looks like 3.1 did. Isn't 3.5 suppose to have a better looking desktop????  Thank you for any input!  Peace to all

How many colours do you have your WB set to? You sholud have funky glow icons at least?

Does your 2000 have a graphics card or plain OCS?

In your system folder prefs/screenmode should do it. OCS is kind of limited though.

Also if you want to pretty up your workbench, you could add a program that adds a  'copper gradient' to the background, and you could add an image on top of that. That way you'll have several hundred colours on screen at once, but on a 16 colour screen (at least for the copper gradient, overlay picture will be 15colours, giving one away for the copper gradient) (I assume you get plenty of gradient colours on OCS/ECS, it's been a while since I used a machine with the old chipsets).

Example copper gradient programs:

http://aminet.net/package/game/gag/mrcopper
or perhaps WBVerlauf20 or MagicCopper would work.

Some examples of how the images on top can work are:

You could also use Rebel-CD32's palette and icons to pretty things up:
