Would You Buy?

If OS 4.x were made to run directly on x86/64 hardware, would you buy it?

I voted yes.  The reason, x86/64 hardware is everywhere, you can get it pretty cheap and there currently is no other hardware platform that can compete with it (hoping Nvidia can make ARM an option here though in the future).  I would run this on PC hardware and very rarely run Windows at home again (need to for my online game).  With Amiga OS 4.x running on x86/64, you could also run Windows or Linux software on it with some additional software such as a VM.

Absolutely. And MOS as well.
Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.

No, AROS is already there.  Why would I buy OS4 if AROS is already there?

It would be great to run OS 4.1 on cheaper hardware. It could be on ARM too, like Pandaboard ($174). If there won't be a cheap PowerPC solution in the future, I cannot see AmigaOS going much anywhere without switching to cheaper alternatives.

No. Windows does everything I need on a PC. Amiga OS 3.x does all I need on an Amiga.

Even with AROS, I'd be happy to hedge the bets/drive competition/have an alternative to AROS. So yes.

Nope, I have some design descision issues with AOS4 (.SOs!!!), plus AROS is now supported across x86/x86-64, PPC, 68k and ARM... You'd have to be insane to support a platform stuck on a single CPU architecture now ;)

No. There's plenty of good free operating systems for x86 hardware, and I prefer 3.1 anyway on real 68k hardware for my Amiga.

I voted no.  I don't pay for OS on x86.  Not even for windows (and no I do not pirate windows).  It's that simple.  Old mac hardware?  I'd pay for a MorphOS license, as I don't like Yellow Dog and OSX isn't really supported anymore.  Too many really good free choices for x86.

absolutely. i would desperately love to have a laptop capable of running OS4.  AROS is already available, yes, but it is not for me.  i try every icaros release, hoping it will be, but it isn't nearly as polished (yet).  maybe in the future, but for now, would much prefer to have OS4 available for x86/x64 hardware.
