Hmm, the original was serious, kind of bland. There was an AGA version which had some cuter elements, but on the whole still not exactly "cutesy".

Woohoo!  I had already picked Exile as my guess before you even gave me the last clue.  I was going to be more sneaky about it and ask "Does the game contain the letter X in the name?" but then your last clue popped up and I decided that Exile had to be it!
