You should try Eve online or Freelancer. Both are amazing games.

Hmm didn't know about Freelancer, that looks kinda good... thanks.

Elite, all I remember is how the docking computer was essential. I was just a low level thug who never got very far...

There is no modern equivalent for Frontier these days.  We have much faster and complex gaming consoles, we have graphics to die for, but we just don't have the games that we used to!

Try Oolite if you have OS X, Windows or Linux box... It's closer to a modernized Elite than to Frontier (personally I never liked Frontier much anyway). It's open source.

The basic version is pretty much prettied up Elite, but there are tons of expansion packs which both make it look amazing and adds all kinds of other functionality.

Wondering if their are any Elite experts out there? I like to be good at this game but find it hard as hell.

My biggest problem, besides i'm hopeless in a dogfight, is getting lost. I select another planet and hyperjump over there. But then i still seem to be really far away from the planet, and forgot finding the space station thing for docking. Am I missing something? Is this game supposed to be hours of flying around in space?
Thx

First of all you need to start basic, so start trading first between 2 safe systems.
Autopilot is a must in Elite as well as Frontier, computers and in Frontier Robots is your best bet.
Start making cash and upgrade only to a larger craft when you have more than enough.
Once you done that, you can start with fights and missions.

As for Frontier, it's better to start with the missions right away, if you follow these closely, you should end up with a Thargoid craft and tons of space, almost impossible to destroy.
