Latest Mac Emulator?
« on: January 15, 2011, 03:03:50 PM »
Anyone here know what the most up to date Mac OS X (Intel) Amiga emulator is?

I can only find the Universal Binary version of uAE that dates to something like 2008 and Hi-Toro which hasn't been updated in a while (but doesn't necessarily need to be I guess).

Thanks.

Does anyone have any details about PUAE and how to get it running, it won't start on my Mac (Intel running 10.6.6) - does it need a framework installing? I can find very little info about the Mac version.

EDIT: Okay got it needed libSDL framework.

I just get a purple screen now if I try and boot it using any config I build using Hi Toro. Any ideas?

Hm, doesnt it have a built in gui? You might need to compile it from the git repo, in which case you need to install xcode.
Btw. can you share the link? I know 1.4.1 is the latest version. if memory serves me, and is it a universal binary? Im on ppc here and wasnt able to build it last time

In that case the version I have is out of date, only 1.3.2, and might not work in 10.6.x

I already have XCode installed (thankfully, as it's a huge download) - I install it from the disc whenever I re-install OS X anyway as a matter of course. I hardly ever use it but on those rare occasions when you need to build from source it's handy :)

Thanks for the info.

Hm, 2.3.1 infact https://github.com/GnoStiC/PUAE

git clone https://github.com/GnoStiC/PUAE.git

Looking into it, this is what failed earlier for me. But this was some time ago, so it might have been fixed

Well that compiled okay. It works now but only with JIT off, which is a little sluggish.

I still have to use Hi Torro to build a config file, the UI in PUAE only allows you to select the config file and run using it.

Mine seemed to compile okay, I used the 'build_macos_cocoa.sh' script.

I don't run any open source package collections (fink or darwinports) I just compiled the cocoa version against XCode and libSDL framework

I don't know if you've confused it by having a X11 environment in fink, maybe?

Ive tried pretty much all, started with builc_macos_xcode tried cocoa, then went to linux-nojit and started trying to modify from there, even adding --with-curses and tried disabling coca altogether, but it still wants to compile it. I also noticed that the cpuemu breaks completely when running make -k -i. I think perhaps it doest like 10.4 at all. Or ppc for that matter.

Okai, with a bit of luck ill be helping to debug the ppc version, i sent off the error output but things got awfully quiet after that, i just hope he didnt die of a brain cloth/malfunction or something, the output was pretty horrible, manageable but horrible.

So theres no RTG or anything in puae yet? Anyone tried 68k AROS? M68k linux or netbsd?
