The Last Post...
« on: January 09, 2011, 12:46:23 AM »
Right... time to clear some things up here, though firstly I'd just like to say wish I'd thought up that thread (Directly at Franko...) it's one of the more bizzare and highly amusing things I've come across on this crazy world of the internet (just the way I like things)... :)

I have always said I wasn't sure if the internet was the thing for me and how long I would continue to use It for I was never sure. The deletion of my posts were not done in a "hissy fit" as Fishy_Fiz seems to think, or being a "drama queen" as Duce implies by claiming that he's been "reading for a week now about how a guy might be leaving A.org and the internet altogether".

If you had read the post and taken into account my style of posting properly you would see that if someone asks me a question I reply with an honest answer, in this case my answer was just simply responding to a question in regard to how long I might stay around on the internet, nothing more nothing less, just a simple honest answer... :)

Amiga.org or the internet isn't going to fall apart just because I decide to stop using it so why on earth do you (Duce) think this is reprehensible I just don't get it... :(

My reasons for leaving (though I don't really have to give any) are quite simple in recent weeks I just wasn't finding the internet fun or interesting any more and to me if something in life is no longer fun or interesting then I quite simply move on to something that is. I had asked Karlos about how to delete my account and found out that this can't be done, so I began to delete my personal details myself and thought it would be best to also delete anything I had written here just in case someone decided to use things I had written to say things about me or use in the future where I would no longer be in a position to respond to them or to have friends or family tell me someone had said this or that about me... :)

While I now realise this was quite futile and stopped deleting my posts and realise now that this would spoil the threads for others, I shall do my best to repair these threads before I leave as I write most of the stuff offline and then post it, it shouldn't be too difficult to restore the threads... :)

I think by now most of you who read any of the stuff I write would have known that I don't care what someone has to say about me, you could call me every name under the sun and I wouldn't be offended, you would simply get a reply back in kind. The only thing that bugged me recently was someone calling me a liar, while not offended as such by this I just thought well I wouldn't put up with that in real life so why should I put up with it here... :)

That and as I say not finding the internet as much fun or interesting anymore I decided quite simply to go back to the way things were before with the net having no part in my life and so have begun to remove all things associated with me and the net (email accounts, forums, online banking etc...)

I was and still am intending to PM everyone on my friends list here just to say thank you for the fun and for putting up with a crackpot like me.... :)

To all the other members here whom I have interacted with directly on the forums or on my own site and those whom have found my posts interesting or hopefully amusing, I would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you all for the interesting topics/debates & advice you have given me and of course the the fun and laughter and to those who have posted with your kind words I say thank you they are genuinely appreciated... :)

To Everyone Here On Amiga.org... :)

Wishing ye awe ra very best... :drink:

Franko

Without the internet how are you going to stay up to date with the Amiga community? There aren't exactly many Amiga communties in your part of the world are there

Being an Amigan without access to a forum like A.org seems like a lonely hobby to me. Noone to share your joy with :(

Anyway best of luck and i hope you don't regret it too much  :)

Still, I wouldn't mind going back to the time before the Internet. Truth be told, I prefer the good old BBS world to the internet these day. I miss the fact that at that time your peer were mostly local. Now, everything and everyone is so remote, so impersonal.

I have presently 3 Amiga that I can't use because I lack a KS + WB disk set. I bought a few from people here and on AmiBay and Evilbay, and I'm still waiting for them to arrive. In the good old day, I would have logged on a few local BBS, set up a meeting and got my set of floppy in about 4 hours top and a short drive to meet the other party.

And last I checked, beside the near instant gratification of the internet in regard to amiga.org post, nothing that is done here couldn't be done, albeit more slowly via a good old BBS + Fido.

Ah, the good old day... And get off my lawn :)

Plenty of peoples on this planet don't have access to the Internet and they are doing just fine, and I'm not talking about 3rd world country either. The internet is a luxury not a necessary component to life.

That's not exactly true, some of us never left.

@Franko

(edit: I retracted what was here beforehand as it wasn't necessary)

Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.

internet does make it a lot easier to get a hold of amiga stuff :)

Ive been trying to limit my time spent online though. Its easy to piss away an entire day off,and I always feel like it was wasted. If I am playing a game or something, at least it feels a bit more constructive

Hi,

Hey good knowing you, you crazy old Scott.
Don't let anyone in the world get your Irish up, and watch out for crazy people like me.
May you have the best of luck, and may your whiskey never run sour, and may your scotch never go dry.

Thank you for the time that you gave us, it is one of the most precious things you can give a person.
