No offence, but seriously, learn to use sidestep

All non-console 3D FPS games (or at least all those that give you freedom of movement), without exception, should be played with keyboard and mouse. Keyboard for actual movement and mouse for turn/aim*.

Use the keyboard to sidestep and the mouse to turn so that you can circle round your enemy, shooting him constantly whilst avoiding his return fire at the same time.

Expect it to become law if I ever get into government.

*although using the mouse to move as well is permissible, as per the DooM canon.

Sidesteps for sissies... prefer to stand and fight... also I'm just too lazy to stretch another finger to reach the sidestep key...

Just dug out this old one and been mucking around with it, Robinsons Requiem. Now I remember why I stopped playing it, naff controls keyboard & mouse when you use the joystick to play and wander near the edge of a hill you get stuck and have to use the mouse to get free... :)

Robinsons Requiem... :)

The gfx engine it used had the potential for something really good, but I think it was let down by the awful programming for the in game movement... :(

I never finished it either, got fed up getting stuck against the side of hills or cave walls... :(

yeah, but it had an atmosphere, and was quite surprising in how it turned out, after you initially was completely unsure what its gonna be. i remember it clumsy, but not unplayable, i dunno even what accel i did have at a time, b1230 i think. also it had some flaws or bugs, sure was easy to get stuck. later ive seen a pc version which was more detailed, still was cool to play on amiga.

DeathMask looks the worst out of them.  Its obviosuly more like a 3d maze as in each movement moves a whold chunk of maze so no where near real 3d

It's a good job you stick to your old machines then as you'd be lucky to last 2 seconds in any modern FPS game, be it against other people or just against enemy AI if that's how you play: Spawn. Bang. Hit once, non critical. Turn only using keyboard while looking for your attacker, but they've already taken cover. Boom. Hit again, this time in the head. Respawn...

this is why these multiplayers, especially fps are so pointless. campers, people sticking explosives to you while youre waiting to come back, all these dumb tricks that make it nothing more than running around firing blindly in all directions. once a friend of me has convinced me to open account to guild wars, it was fun for an hour, boring repetitive burden for following few weeks, and is now completely forgotten of. these games have no nothing.

I have tried a playing some games on my nephews XBOX and PS3 (don't ask me which cos they all look the same to me...) and ran about quite successfully like a nutter blasting everything in sight for at least 30 seconds before being killed by gawd knows what (as I never seen what killed me) and once I got run over by a truck... :)

Blizzard and their two billion dollars a year of profit disagree with you.  Or if you like, you can take your argument up with the hundreds of thousands of people who play TF2, Left 4 Dead (and L4D2), and on and on and on...

IOW,

Thought I'd just throw in one of my all time favourites here just to show how good the Frodo C64 emulator can be on an A1200... :)

Forbidden Forest for the C64 was the first game to feature huge characters and night and day features not to mention of course the brilliant music... :)

All of Paul Norman's games for the C64 that he did through Cosmi were brilliant, even if only for the music.

Gotta agree with wawrzon on this one... :)

But at the same time each to their own I say, cept the folk who play all these games you speak of are usually quite simple or just brain dead (or both)...

well, as far as MMOs goes, pretty much the entire point of the game is to be repetitive.

Do you think I will need more than 2 megs of RAM to run Quake 4 on my amiga? :)

I have to agree compared to console platformeres.  Platform games on the amiga pretty much universally sucked witha  few exceptions.

I love all types of games, but FPS gamesare good if its what you like.  Been playing COD since the first game on PC.   Benn playing black ops online sooooooooo much.

But there again also been loving fable 3 and the new assassins creed.
