DoomMaster posts new "better" Only Amiga vid

You guys are so negative.  This Doomy guy is actually one of us, because he clearly loves the Amiga computer.  Unless you have proof that he did indeed rip people off, I would stop saying that about him.  Think about it, if he wanted to, he could hire a lawyer and sue Amiga Org.  He would win in a court of law because none of you have actual evidence that proves that he ripped anyone off.  Hearsay or gossip will not hold up in court.
 
Anyway, none of you guys had his permission to use any part of his video, including his vocals, to create your own versions of the video.  So, if Doomy decided that he liked one of your videos enough to use it as part of his new release, you should be flattered.

I have to say that you people own him an appology.  I have not had personal experience with him, so, I cannot support or defend the things he alledgedly did, but right here in this thread, we have character assasination.

Moto, you should be ashamed of yourself in perticular.  If you approach the subject of copyright from the 'copyright is stealing' POV, you ripped the guy off, and then went and reported him when he took his own property back.  Disgusting.  If you approach the subject of copyright from the from the 'information wants to be free' POV, your reporting of him was disgusting.  Apparently, you look at copyright from the 'anything I touch is mine' POV.

The fact that the rest of you jump non board and bash Doomy instead of Moto makes you part of the problem.

As much as we're all indebted to Wayne, there's not much he can do. He doesn't run the site any more. However, if memory serves, he did permanently ban DoomMaster in the first place, so you are rather barking up the wrong tree there.

As I've said before I don't know Mr HC personally and I used his audio & video to after seeing the original version posted at various times on here and re-done them for a bit of a laugh. I know HC has viewed them personally and he hasn't complained to either me or YouTube about the use of his stuff.

What he has allegedly done in his past is nothing to do with me, and from the guy who was wanting to get together with Doomy to produce a new version I've had no negative response to it from Doomy other than he doesn't wish to redo the video or audio again as he's quite happy leaving it in all it's current incarnations as is.

I reckon your reading a wee bit too much into this and taking things a wee bit too seriously, have you read some of the highly amusing posts here recently, don't think you'll find many other sites that allow folk to enjoy themselves and have fun with some of the funny things that are posted here as way of topic as you can get.

Lighten up a bit, join in and enjoy yourself, if you've looking to ask serious questions you will find plenty of folk here only too willing to help try and answer them, but that doesn't mean when nothing serious is going on that members shouldn't be able to pass the time with a bit of light hearted banter...

Selles did not say that DoomMaster could sue Wayne.  He said that DoomMaster could sue Amiga.Org.  That means WHOEVER owns it.  The fact that Wayne doesn't own it anymore doesn't protect the current owners of the site in anyway from anything.
[Edit:  Selles does mention Wayne.  Other than that, his point is still correct.]

The claim that comments are owned by the poster doesn't hold water once comments start getting moderated.  While Amiga.org give wide leeway to it's members in what they say (and I am glad that they do), Amiga.org does have in it's TOS that personal attacks are not allowed, and has taken action to moderate against them when it suits them.  That means they have taken responsibility for deciding when and if slanderous statements will be allowed.  No doubt, they could take the stance that they don't moderate unless a user requests it, but once someone complains, they need to be consistent.  Selles is correct in the view that Amiga.org is opening themselves up when they have TOS forbidding this behavior, but let it run unchecked when directed at a particular individual.

Besides all that.  The behavior is shameful.  Much of the Amiga.org membership are like vultures, picking at a dead corpse.  Doomy is gone from this site.  His account is dead.  Let it move on.

If you read the original thread you'll see that the remixes were referred to as exactly that - original music featuring Doomy's original vocal. No ownership of the vocals was claimed by anybody. That's a bit different to Doomy using the remix in his video and saying "I did this".

For the record, my attitude to copyright is that credit should be given where it's due. My opinion is that this was done when the remix was posted by me, but not when HC used it in his video - hence the complaint.
