FreeDO 3DO emulator finally goes Open Source!

From what I understand, this machine was designed by a bunch of the same guys who designed the Amiga, if this is the case, I can not see a reason why such an emulator shouldn't be ported to AmigaOS, MorphOS, and AROS...

I guess it's also GCC which is Amiga friendly right?

If we had 200Mhz 680x0's (like the Atari community seems to have) then we just "might" be able to run this, considering it was originally planned for release on the Sega Dreamcast.

Not so not so. The 3DO's library consisted of a lot more than mere ports. There were many titles that released on the 3DO alone. Also there were a few titles that were on other systems, but paled in comparison to the 3DO version, I.E. Road Rash and Po'ED.

They also had one called Slayer, which was a port of Dungeon Hack for DOS.  I can't imagine the 3DO version not being better, but I haven't seen much in the way of videos showing it.

Dungeon Hack would be an awesome port to AmigaOS.  It's essentially Dungeon Master meets NetHack, using AD&D 2nd edition rules.

Edit: Found a video of it for the 3do.  It's almost totally different, full 360 degrees, it looks more like Daggerfall than Dungeon Master.  The Dungeon Hack for DOS is just like Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder, etc.

There was Slayer, then they later released Death Keep. I think if you get that chance to play them that you'll find your self liking Death Keep the best between the two.

I also really enjoyed playing Alone in the Dark part 1 on there, as I believe this was the only console that that game ever made it to, which was ironic as that games still stands (in my opinion) as the best in the series.

I believe it was the 3DO port of Flashback that featured the hi-resolution graphics which didn't grace the PC till much later. And of course there were a few RPG's on the 3DO that I loved playing, though I forget the name of the one I played the most...

Speaking of which did anyone ever get a chance to play Lost Eden? Was it any good?

A little bit of topic, but the Need for speed series had its debut exclusively on 3DO in 1994.

Immercenary would like a word with you.:) Such a bizarre but good fps. Also, Guardian Wars and Lucienne's Quest are pretty good, imho. Like most kids in the 90's, I had parents that were fairly clueless about game consoles and computers. So it was a nice turn of events when they came home one day with a brand new 3do for both my brother and I, along with about 30 games, thanks to Best Buy having a clearance sell right around the time of the 3do's demise. Total cost, around $50.:lol:
