Primary... more like ONLY...

But it's nice to know that folk will point me in the right direction before I make any more hasty purchases... :)

(just need to remember to ask first before I do, Oh yeah... not too impressed by OS X but that could be due to this machine being pretty slow... :) )

@ Kesa

That was at least a full 4 minutes between posts... :)

I thought G4s were pretty slow too, but they're actually pretty capable. It's OSX, its a serious resource pig.Using the processor I have installed right now (the 933Mhz), video under OSX simply wasn't fast enough (even for simple Flash animation).
Now I can view most common files without stutter and I anticipate being able to view 720p files once I upgrade the processor.

When G5 support is introduced, I expect MOS to be able to display anything up to 1080p resolutions.

Interesting,
Outside 3.1 and 3.9, the most used OS' are PPC based (AOS4.1 and MOS).

With all the posts suggesting a shift to X86, you might expect more AROS users to vote for their OS.

Three votes have been recast from M68K AmigaOS versions to MorphOS. Anybody else want to change their mind?

Bit confused here...

That macs only got the same 800Mhz speed as the one I'm using now and if this one's too slow and not any good for running MorphOS, how is that one going to help ?

(or are you one trying to sell it... )

MorphOS only has driver support for certain models of Mac. The Quicksilver range of G4 towers is the best supported of them, outside of the 1.25GHz eMac model.

I don't think the votes can easily be looked at in those terms. You have to bear in mind that each "camp" tend to have their own forums and may even not post here at all. What you see here is approximately representative of those amiga.org users that could be bothered to cast their vote, nothing more.

Night, Night all... :)

That's just sily. Of course there's a Santa Claus.

It's the existence of God that's questionable (at least according to Steven Hawking).

And to go completely off tangent, here's a quote from Frank Zappa I'm fond of.

The Bible tells us God made us to be just like him.
So, if we're dumb,
Then God is dumb.
And maybe even a little ugly on the side.

IIRC Fab already said that a quick test with MPlayer on G5/MorphOS showed that these maschines are pretty easy able to handle that. But I am not the "Wolfbot", hence no link for that.

"Wolfbot"? ;) That's amuzing. I'm still trying to figure out how Andreas indexs and keeps track of all those references.
I've asked him about it, but he won't reveal his secrets to me. If it is just recall, then he very well might be cybernetic.
Still, I've learned not to question him (on most things) and since he defers to Frank (Pega-1 @ MorphZone) I definately don't question Frank.

With such sharp minds in our corner, I don't question my OS choice.

The G5 will give us the boost needed for really processor intensive tasks, but we're not going to get that for awhile. Meanwhile, I'm interested in seeing just how well the Sonnett upgrade I just ordered works.

Hard to believe but the tracking number that I got for the G5 I bought on ebay wouldn't work, so after trying to contact the seller since yesterday I finally got this reply just now...

Quote
Dear xxxxxx,

Hello,

I bought the postage online but this has not been posted as yet.
It will be taken to the Post Office this afternoon, after it has been
scanned in to the system the tracking number will work. Delivery
as per ebay auction is 48 hour so you should receive this on
Friday.

Regards

- xxxxxx xxxx

He didn't even mention the fact that the tracking number he has given me is not accepted on the couriers site as it's too long, even though I pointed this out to him.

Talk about crazy, the payment was cleared at the end of the auction on sunday afternoon, the ruddy things less than 7 miles (probably a less than 20 minute round trip) from my house and now I have to wait till Friday to get it, gimme a car boot sale any day...
