On my Blizzard060/PPC, you can emulate the C64 at full fps & fullscreen gfx using a PPC version of Frodo... :)

With audio?

Honestly, these are the things that would TOTALLY bring me back to AmigaOS exclusively - and that a Classic Amiga currently can't do:

- full use of the internet including YouTube, and banking sites (would need to work with web-mail security encryption, and bank website encryption).  It would also need to render modern websites properly.

- Full audio multitracking - I know Audio Evolution is capable of this....but right now you need a very hard to find classic PPC accelerator to actually use it with any functionality.

- Non-linear video editing - Sony Vegas style.

Once a "new Amiga" comes out that can handle all of these things (and this would also mean some new Amiga software in the first and last cases) then I'd ditch other operating systems.  So I guess this isn't a classic Amiga anymore.

Classic Amiga systems still do a great job with MIDI recording, desktop publishing and graphics (even if they are a tad bit slow for the latter two).

Non-linear editing with Toaster/Flyer or with MovieShop/VlabMotion/Toccata is quite good IMO.  (No hi-def, of course).

Regarding decent internet (but not videos), would it not be possible with 060, enough memory, and new software?

Easy to use (and install) GUI based bittorrent software that worked simply and reliably.

Open a Docx file from work/friends/family.  Edit 14 MP raw images, Edit HD video, sync my iPhone.  That's just off the top of my head.

Add a graphics card or reasonable substitute to that and you might be in luck.  Most web pages nowadays assume the capability to do non-paletted graphics.

Seems kinda weird to me that you'd want to use an Amiga to do any of that stuff...

As said before in this thread: browsing the web on a classic Amiga is a terrible experience. E-mail, chatting and ftp work nicely, but browsing the web on a classic Amiga is utter torture.

I would be happy to have a browser on a classic Amiga which would be comparable to IE6 running on a 486 or something like that.
Life sucks. Then you die. Then they throw mud in your face. Then you get eaten by worms. Be happy it happens in that order... My Amiga 1200

CSS browsing, and more use of HAM mode for programs and workbench(backdrops). It annoys me that my emulated mac runs in thousands of colours, and my native web browser and desktop do not.

MP3 playing is ok, but eats to many resources. And I miss youtube etc as well.

As for photoshop, I run version 4 (with layers and multiple undo) on my Amytosh ;)

What can't you do on a properly upgraded/expanded 68K Amiga that you really want or need to do?

Browsing the internet is the one and a very important thing you can't do on a properly upgraded/expanded 68K Amiga. There is also a lack of an office suite.

CSS browsing

There is NetSurf that supports CSS but it lacks many other features eg. JavaScript.

These are the problems we have today- Ports rather than specially written software. It's nobody's fault, I guess that most of the specialist 68x programers have moved on :(
Now most of the ported software is from more powerfull machines, and tries to pour a quart into a pint pot.

I think Javascript, CSS, and SSL are necesities.
