Getting a ScreamerNet system together
« on: November 08, 2010, 06:14:01 AM »
Hello all.

I'm going to attempt to assemble a ScreamerNet system for my Video Toaster suite. I have a total of five 68060 equipped A4000T's set aside for the system, each with Amiga Net ethernet cards (BNC/AUI). The main machine is equipped with a Toaster 4000, DPS TBC-IV, and DPS Personal Animation Recorder.

So I have a few questions about how to make ScreamerNet work. I know all the machines must have access to a common command folder, but how should I go about setting that up? The drivers for the card are available, and I have AmiTCP, so do I just need something like Samba?

Also, more of a general BNC ethernet question, if I daisy-chain the computers together with RG-58 cables and T-connectors with 50 ohm terminators at both ends of the chain, is that all I need to make the network work?

Thanks,
Tom

Well, from an infrastructure side, yes, that's all you need to make the physical network. It's down to the software/drivers after that. Afraid I've no idea about the software involved...
