MP3 Problem
« on: November 06, 2010, 07:54:28 PM »
Hello
Not sure about this that I have some Mp3 songs on a CD  which was done on a PC but when I put the CD in a PC it shows all the Mp3 files but if I put the CD in the Amiga it shows no Mp3 files on the CD. So what can I do or am I getting the wrong idea.
AmigaOS 4.1 FE Update1 running on AMCC PPC440EP with 1,024MB Memory and Radeon 9250.

Have you tried Show all Files? from the pull down menu?
if that shows them drag the files to your hard disk and snapshot them, then they should be visible

What CD filesystem are you using?

From a shell, do a dir listing on the CD. If nothing shows up there, you probably need a different/newer CDFS.

Hi Atom Ant
Hmm I just tested on one of my Mp3 CDs from the car, and the show all files worked on that.
maybe try to read them via tunenet? just go to project/open media and click on your CD in the menu that should list them

Have you made sure that you haven´t written the CD in that crappy Windows-only format, where you can put files on the medium after the first burn - without multisession? It seems to be default on newer Windows systems and won´t work at all.

Yeah, what Matt said.

OR, maybe you can burn a new CD in a format that is compatible with whatever CDFileSystem you have loaded on your Amiga.  Modern Mp3 file naming conventions may be incompatible with older Amiga CDFSs.  Path and file names may be too long and may contain illegal characters, like spaces.
