New RAM high
« on: October 11, 2010, 10:07:40 PM »
I think a record has been set for Expansion RAM prices. A Microbotics Starboard II with 2Mb of RAM (only - no clock, etc.) just sold for $204. and change - plus shipping on eBay!
I'll have to give serious thought to were mine will end up.....
A2000 GVP 40MHz \'030, 21Mb RAM SD/FF, 2 floppies, internal CD-ROM drive, micromys v3 w/laser mouse
A1000 Microbotics Starboard II w/2Mb 1080, & external floppy (AIRdrive)
C-128 w/1571, 1750, & Final Cartridge III+

Just last week on ebay a Blizzard 1260 went for £361, made me think about selling my spare one, I only paid about £260 for it three years ago... :)

SNES R.P.G. games always go for silly prices too on ebay. I have two mint condition Terranigma games, paid £25 retail for them, on ebay just now there going for around the £80 - £90 mark... :)

Damn.  I have one of those, with the extra RAM/clock module and SCSI.  Cannot use both at the same time, though.  Maybe I can snare that same buyer.

Ya know, I used to feel bad about when I would put my stuff up on eBay.  I even pulled a couple of auctions when I thought the price had gotten stupidly high.  The problem was that I was afraid collectors would be running up the price so people who would actually use the equipment would be bid out.  But now I feel that if someone wants to be dumb enough to pay $200 for something as useless as the Starboard (considering the many better options available,) fekken let 'em.

Yeah and just think of how stupid the idiot was who bought the Starboard new and then fully populated it with DRAM! LOL!

... I still use mine everyday so that I can recover my expenses from 1987.

In an old Amazing Computing, the Starboard 2 sold for $879.95 from Microbotics with 2Mb installed. BTW - I use mine every day too. I just need to get a hard drive on the A1000....

beware of "stupid prices" Some people get a "friend" to buy something hoping to start a run
