A3000 ZIP ram...where to find some?
« on: December 03, 2003, 08:43:37 PM »
I've decided to keep my A3000D around stock specs for now, until I can find a suitable accelerator that fits in the original case, so the first step is to I guess find some ZIP ram. I need 16MBs of:

1x4 Page Mode Zip RAM 60ns

Anyone got some? :-)

You might try SoftwareHut.........
I found 4 megs on EBay awhile back
I'm maxed out now.

I think the going rate for 4 megs is about $25.00
if you can find it...........
Good Luck

In my very humble opinion, best forget the ZIPs and install a turbo board that can take SIMMs.

If not, then try and find yourself a SIMM -> ZIP adapter.

Yeah, the best bet would be to get an accelerator, sure, however not too many fit in regular A3000D case without some modifications to the case. Apparently hight of the simm slots is almost always an issue. I guess Warp Engine 3040 would be the best, if I could find it. :-)

Do Cyberstorms fit in A3000D? Is there enough space?

Software Hut does have them, for $4,00 each.

I've seen phase5 CyberstormPPCs in 3000 cases without any trouble at all. Be sure your fans work!

Actually there are 2 different CSPPC cards, one that does fit and one that does not fit in the A3000.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

I've heard that some DCE models were made with straight simm slots, and that they do not fit into A3000D.

I've got 4 zip chips (2 meg) that I can't use.  I mis-read the discription.  I'll sell them for what I payed - ($20) + shipping, if you still want some.  Shipping shouldn't be too bad as I'm in Ohio, USA.
