Viva Amiga Documentary New Site and Trailer
« on: September 30, 2010, 10:53:15 PM »
Hi Everyone

Zach from the Amiga doc here. Thanks so much for your kind words down in the other thread.

Sorry about the confusion with the other version of the trailer. Silly me, I had uploaded that to YouTube just to show my frickin Dad so he could see what I was working on. I forgot that people might actually hunt it down on YouTube and spread the unfinishjed version around. Lesson learned!

The official teaser is now online.

Check the new website at

http://www.amigafilm.com

and the youtube video is right there too.

Enjoy, and I do appreciate any and all feedback, even if I don't respond on here. As you might guess, I am getting bombarded with correspondence right now.

all my best
Zach

The music overpowers the speech a bit at various points.  Hearing what is being said should be 100% effortless.  Why should I have to struggle to make out what they are saying?

I hope at some point in the video you will compare WindowsXP to a tricked out Amiga Desktop (you can just load up AmikitOS on your WinUAE to quickly and easily show this).

Good luck, and may the Toaster be with you. :)
Wanna try a wonderfull strategy game with lots of handdrawn anims,
Magic Spells and Monsters, Incredible playability and lastability,
English speech, etc. Total Chaos AGA

I've just signed up for my copy, I hope that the final product will indeed be something special... :)

A movie like this if done correctly would help show those who have abandoned the Amiga or who have never had the privilege of owning or using one, just how important the Amiga was & still is to the true meaning of home computing. :)

Good luck with the project, I can't wait to get hold of the finished item... :)

@Franko  What you said there is the goal of the film. WAnt to show what people missed and are possibly still missing out on. We want something classy, informative, fun, and beautiful. I think we're on the right track and I can't wait to beable to get you a copy! Hang in there, we've got a long way to go

Makes me sad, what could have been wasn't.  Imagine what would have been in 2010 if it had survived.  Blue ray, 1080p, USB 3.0, dual gigabyte video cards, A dozen processors all humming away in unison.  Ah well, the dream died...

Regarding the sound issue.

To be more accurate:

Win... Losing... & Digital Angst

The guy says 'something something terminal' before going on to say 'it's living in spite of them.'

Tiny thing really, I for one am looking forward to this DVD and placed my pre-order/interest this morning. :)

@save2600, other pre-order signup peoples: thanks! we will keep you informed about getting a copy once we get some other matters sorted.

As far as NetFlix, it's possible. Not sure. Lot of factors to consider there. We are currently looking at retaining the rights to our film, versus selling them to a distribution company. When you see a film on NetFlix, odds are that the filmmaker no longer owns it, he has sold the film to a company. And these companies arent known for being great to work with. I speak from experience.

thanks all

actually, a film like this should show what the Amiga actually DID achieve. and I don't mean hardware.

I mean how it was USED in the real world. All the cable companies that used an Amiga inhouse. All the video companies that used the toaster/flyer to make local commercials, wedding videos and god knows what else. All those artists who made films. small films, TV series and big films, including the ones that received Emmy's.

The Amiga is responsible for changing the way things are done in film and if anyone thinks that's NOTHING, they are clearly not paying attention.

The Amiga has nothing to apologize for. And everyone who ever used an Amiga should hold their head high and be proud
the no CARB diet- no Cheney, Ashcroft, Rumsfeld or Bush.
