Armagetron Advanced released for AmigaOS 4.x
« on: September 21, 2010, 10:21:32 PM »
Armagetron Advanced is a 3D light cycle game based on the movie Tron.

It's a single player as well as an Online/LAN multiplayer arcade style game.

Your light cycle leaves a wall behind you, and you must avoid hitting other players while trying to get as many to hit your wall as possible.

With up to 32 player madness, let the games begin!

It is (soon) available from OS4Depot.

djrikki, fair point. The site does have many screenshots and is linked in the readme.

Also if it's a new file on OS4Depot, you need to wait for it to be approved before you can upload screenshots, which then have to be approved. So there'll be a little wait anyway.

Looks good, but will it play as good as Sneech?

Not dogging on os4, as any progress is good progress, but why does it seem like games linux had 5+ years ago being ported are big news?

Os4 devs need to stop porting linux apps and port or rewrite amiga apps.

Just one man's opinion, but if I want to run linux apps, I have a linux computer for that.

Well there's a few arguements for that one:

1) Mainly because whoever ported it has a choice in what they choose to work on and/or could be something they are comfortable with doing and recompiling something that has already been written is ALOT less work.

2) regardless of age a good game is always a good game.

3) out of the vast ocean of individuals out there remotely interested in this type of thing only a few in comparison have experience in 1) the same field 2) share the same directives and preferences and 3) work comfortably in a team.

You have a good point but quite a few people can do little but port. It all needs to be organised and it all needs to be collectively accepted and pursued equally... not an easy thing to accomplish...?

This certainly isn't a definitive explanation and infact it might be quite choppy LOL, I'm a little tired and not even sure why I replied ;-)

Linux app? What is that? It's just sourcecode before it's ported. That includes SDL too.
