What style RPG would people be more interested in ?
« on: September 15, 2010, 04:54:04 PM »
Im a fairly creative person, and as such am always working on one computer related project or another. Although it's not my favorite genre of games, the idea of making an RPG for the classic amigas has always appealed to me and Im trying to get myself motivated to actually do it. The problem is however that I cant work out whether I want to make more of a zelda/jrpg style game, or something more like the Ultima series. In an ideal world I'd like to make both, and who knows, maybe one day it'll pan out that way, but for now I just need to to start on one or the other. I guess the main point in this thread is to see, assuming there was a decent new one available, what style RPG people would be more interested in ?
Thanks
Near as I can tell this is where I write something under the guise of being innocuous, but really its a pot shot at another persons/peoples choice of Amiga based systems. Unfortunately only I cant see how transparent and petty it makes me look.

Just dreaming, but a port or something like Diablo would be nice.  ;)

The-Feary-Tale Style RPG (with more RPG and Story Elements than Feary Tale).

Like I started some time ago (but is frozen at the moment)

Definitely Ultima/western style RPG. Consoles are flooded with great JRPGs, there is really no need for more. But something darker and isometric in the vein of Ultima, Faery Tale Adv. or Ambermoon would be great.

A stat building and money building game wrapped in an RPG. I like a thoughtful replayable strategy element as opposed to Get the big sword and kill the boss monster.

I'm partial to the Dungeon Master style but with an updated inventory/spell system.

Would be great to have some Baldur's Gate style RPG. Should be possible with 256 colors AGA.
Dungeon Master style is now clearly outdated when the standard is like Morrowind or Oblivion on the PC (both really great games :))

I've always wanted to see a good RPG game on the amiga written in the style of the SNES RPG Games ie: Legend of Zelda, Terranigma, Illusion of time etc.. :)

If you can manage that then I'd be first in line to buy it... :)

My favorite games ever were the Infocom games and the Ultima series. Phantasie on the C=64 was decent too. That's more style/design preference than story/theme.

I personally like the hack'n'slash Diablo type games with an element of RPG thrown in :) Lots of action, a plot, some quests, but not too complicated to pick up and play.

I find many RPG's too complicated and you lose the "fun" factor.

I have always loved the Ultima series, particularly Ultima III.  I would also like to see something like Wasteland, it has to be one of my all time favorites.  I think that Neuromancer is also something that could be reinvented and given a new chance to entertain us all again.

I still revisit all of the above mentioned games, as they seem to have something that brings me back to my roots.

I'd love an ultima kind of game, preferably one using an established RPG system such as GURPS or similar.
