Hello,

I am trying to transfer adf files from pc to amigha 1200 wb 3.1. I compress them on pc with a standard archive format like lha or zip. then i copy the file on a formatted 720kb disk. I then put the disk in the amiga and via cross-dos i can acces the file and put it on the hard disk. But when i try to decompress the file with LHA,unzip, unrar, etc i keep on getting the error message: invalid compressed data to inflate! although it sometimes works with files smaller than 300 kb,please help :(

Thanks

Your hard drive MaxTransfer size could be too large.  Try reducing it to 0x1FE00 with HDToolBox.  Also, make sure Cross-DOS isn't attempting to convert PC files to Amiga text files.

Hello! thanks to everyone who replied to my posts!

when i tried to extract the files directly from the disquette ik Worked  fine,

You mentioned The HDtoolbox where could i get such a program?

also since i use 720 disks my capacity is limited to 720 kb when i want  to have bigger archives i am in trouble! RAR seems like a good method  but deachiving with a unrar program on the amiga doesn't really work,  pehaps i use the wrong program? i use winrar to archive on pc and used  De-archiveur ;unrar-3.10 on the amiga

thank you!

Tarak: I'd also suggest checking the MaxTransfer setting. Also, try out a bunch of different archivers on both the Amiga and PC side, see what works best for you. I'm a fan of 'Ultimate Zip' on the PC, it handles most any format.

Although, if you intend to do a lot of file transfers, I Highly recommend getting a CD-ROM or CD-R on your miggy. An external CD next to your miggy may not be the most elegant solution, but it is practical. It needn't be expensive either. For the CD file system you can check Aminet for free/shareware solutions, or you could track down AsimCDFS. Anywho, as I'm using OS3.9, I already had the filesystem... My CD burner was .99 from EBay....

I've never had luck with .RAR files of my miggy. I usually stick with .zip files.....

Aminet does have several file 'splitter/joiner' programs that might help with archives >720K, tho I have never tried them myself.....
