When I answered the front door one Sunday morning still half asleep to a couple of Jehova's Witnesses and said 'oh that sound interesting'...

Well, there are a couple of things I said to my sister about her looks which she does not forgive me in this lifetime.

in another thread i joked that i can't read when obviously i can read and that is very insensitive to people who really cant read but none of them would likely be on here since they cant read but then maybe next time i see someone that cant read id feel really bad even though they wouldnt know but i would and i would probably say something and they might get upset and ummm...

this post too...
Oh yeah?!?
Well your stupid bit is set,
and its read only!

"This'll just take a few minutes to fix" about my brothers PC (ended up taking several hours as it needed a complete re-install thanks to it being utterly infested with malware)

"What's the worst that could happen" about moving to Sheffield.

"Trust me" every single damn time I say it, bad things happen.

"I can help fix your computer."
Once it is known that you like computers you get continually badgered by people needing help. They also assume that you know all the shortcuts and functions in Excel.
One thing I do like is shopping for parts for someone and assembling a DIY box.

"I really want this job."

Sometimes it is better to stick with an obviously easy job instead of something you 'think' might be interesting.

Something I wish someone else hadn't said: "You will never get a job if you don't do well in school."
I know of three people including myself who's schooling had no impact and (not including myself because I'm lazy) went on to great careers.

Similar to others....

1) Yes, I'll pop over for an hour or so and fix that PC. Wasted two afternoons on that and the guy wasn't even grateful.

2) Do you want to go out for a drink sometime? Lead to a year of wasted finances and a relationship that I wish in hindsight had not happened. She was a mean spirited woman who never really warmed to me despite my best efforts. She did warm to the gin and tonics I bought though.

3) Yep. Let's get this Parnet transfer going. His cable was faulty and it resulted in a blown CIA chip on my A4000T. This was in South Africa, where there were very few Amiga techies per square kilometer who could fix that, if you know what I mean. I had to drive to another town 40km away, pay handsomely to get it fixed.

4) Yes, I'll sign up with your agency. Turned out to be a bunch of douche-bags with no moral compass at all. I ditched them but still got calls for years afterwards asking if I want work. Here is how the last conversation went:

BINT: Hi Mr ***** this is ***** from *** agency. I am just checking to see if you are looking for work, we have quite a lot of it available.
ME: (after taking a big breath in) May I ask how long you have been working there, *****?
BINT: I just started a few weeks ago.
ME: Okay. Well I am sure you are quite a nice person, *****, but I have had less than favourable experiences with your agency going back a number of years. In fact I have had several phone calls since 2006 from your agency despite the fact that I have requested on each occasion that I be completely removed from your books.
BINT: Oh, I am sorry...
ME: I just want to make something clear, because these calls are becoming more than irritating. I will never work for *** again and I wish to have no further contact from *** or any of its agents. I want my name removed from any electronic or hardcopy database that may be held at your premises or remotely and I want a complete dissociation between myself and your agency as if we had never made contact. If I get one more call, email or letter from your agency, I will have my solicitor draw up a harassment case against *** agency and I will publish letters of complaint in all the radiography journals and in all the online forums about your agency's complete inability to follow instructions as requested on multiple occasions previously. Is all that clear?
BINT: Yes, I am sorry...
ME: No need to be sorry, this can all be fixed very simply. Go into all your records and wherever you see my name just press delete. Wherever you see this phone number just press delete. Job done. I trust we won't be speaking again?
BINT: No
ME: Good. Have a nice day.

:)

"It's 2006, I really don't need to keep this old Spectrum +2A and Amiga 500+, They're of no interest to anyone, and I'll free up some space by taking them to the tip."
