I messed up everything to do with my Picasso IV - need help badly
« on: September 08, 2010, 01:19:03 PM »
Here is the situation:

Switch on, NO display, No early startup display, No OS display

Or

Switch on, hit early startup and press SPACE (selects NTSC) ... Gives Display

OS3.9 loads and i have a terrible Euro36 or something display

Cant find the Picasso resolutions in screen mode.

-- Background --

My PIV worked 100% perfect.. Decided i wanted an LCD instead of CRT so i messed around with the settings and the Amiga was only giving NATIVE resolutions if i select NTSC from Early startup.

To try and fix it, i reinstalled Picasso96 and now i am stuck with the problem mentioned above.

Please Please help. I am totally lost. All i want is my old setup with CRT and 800x600 resolution in OS3.9 and games/native amiga stuff displayed properly again in PAL

If it is not showing your resolutions in the ScreenMode Prefs the install must have gone wrong... What is in your DEVS:Monitors?

I have essentially the same setup (A4000D instead of T).

All of them now... And they are ALL working :S

I moved the plug of the VGA attached to the picasso .. Must have been loose or bad contact.

But my PicassoIV still thinks that it is NTSC as PAL native resolutions are not working.

Can i arrange that?

So, are you back to where you want to be?

If not, here is something you might try.  Move all the monitor drivers, EXCEPT NTSC, PAL, & PicassoIV, from SYS:DEVS/Monitors to SYS:Storage/Monitors.

I have not messed with this for a long time, but it seems some of the original Commodore monitor drivers, if loaded at startup, prevent Picasso working properly.  Not sure it's true, but I was told this 5 years ago.

My SYS:Devs/Monitors drawer only has the exceptions listed above in it, not all possibilities.

Naturally, after moving things around, reboot.  Then try to run Picasso96Mode in Prefs and see if you can get the desired res back.

EDIT:  Gee whiz.  How many posts are you running about this?

I am where i want to be. The VGA plug that plugs into the graphics card was loose and i needed to fix a setting of the PAL Hz.

The other posts are for other related problems with the picasso iv.
