Even MagicMenu works fine in 3.1 but is freezing my 3.9 (along with the other programs that are also freezing it). It used to work perfectly in 3.9

Does your HD have multiple partitions (SYS3.1, SYS3.9, Work:, APPS, etc)?  Is 3.9 installed on the first partition (DH0: )?

Just to be safe, it might be wise to backup your 3.9 partition, especially those files that make your 68060 play nicely with PIV, keyfiles, registrations, etc.  If it turn out your filesystem is corrupted, you can: reformat the partition, repartition and reformat the whole drive, replace the drive.  If it is something simple, well, you still have backups.

Again, I hope I'm wrong.  I'm trying to recover my system from what you are describing on your system.  When I fixed one non-sense error, others replaced it.  It was like the system had forgotten where to find things.  Eventually, it spread to my other partitions too.  I tried to backup too late to another HD.  When I tried to move data from a bad partition to the new HD, it appeared to work until it froze.  Upon reboot, no files had been moved.

Good Luck

If your drive and partitions are "big", be sure you use a scsi.device and filesystem that are capable of handling them right.

PROBLEM SEEMS SOLVED.

Dont know how, but i inserted the OS3.9 install CD and selected a new install.

At 40% it stopped but the Amiga did not crash or freeze.

I rebooted with the WBSTARTUP folder as it is supposed to be and everything worked perfectly.

Maybe it fixed some files? I dont know, but i am Happy now :)

Sounds like his partition is corrupted.  I'd backup the important stuff and re-partition and reformat.  Maybe even replace the hard drive since it's so old.

What kind of help do you want?

The Amiga developed a problem where every now and then it would FREEZE when it starts loading items from WBStartup. Usually a reset would solve it.

But then it started doing it ALL the time.

I managed to boot holding the ALT key (disabiling WBSTARTUP), but nothing would run as the Amiga would freeze.

So i inserted the OS3.9 disc and started an installation over the old one and it stopped at 40%.

I rebooted and the Amiga worked 100% fine for a day or so and then started doing that problem, but not all the time and a reset would usually help.

Now its doing it ALL the time again.

The OS3.1 partition on the same hard drive is fine.

The hard drive is a 1Gb so the partitions are not that big at all. It is a SCSI hard drive.

scsi.device is not present

Once in a while it does actually boot up properly. It just did now.

But i tried loading something (SysSpeed from the OS3.9 partition) and it didnt load. no messages nothing. Then the mouse moves and all, but if i click on an icon or close button it shows the click but does nothing. same with right clock, i see the rightclick options but they do nothing.

Now i reset and tried loading a game in whdload and it loaded perfectly. Note games are on a different partition.

This is really messed up

Really sounds to me like your hard drive is broken.  You will need to get a new hard drive and reinstall OS 3.9 on it, along with any stuff you backed up.
