Amiga 1000 df0 broken
« on: November 30, 2003, 06:53:03 PM »
Hi guys, as the subject says, i have just got a complete Amiga 1000 system. The only problem is, df0 doesnt read anything. I assume its broken, as i tried to clean it without any luck. I wonder if the internal df0 is the same as in other Amiga models, or do i need a special drive?
Regards

yes sir! got the kickstart disk, but the floppy cant read it either. It makes a lot of strange and loud noise
:))

So i assume its broken...thats why i was asking if the internal df0 in the A1000 is the same than in other Amigas..

that's good, Because the A1000 won't do much with any disk with out the kickstart :-)

I say you should pick up a cheap A500 and use the Floppy from that.

Electronically, yes, it's the same. Physically, you will find most other Amiga internal floppies to be a bit smaller in height.

Over the years I had adopted a few different models (including an HD floppy) for use in Frankenthousand. It's pretty much a matter of drilling some different mounting holes in the brackets if you need to use a different model.

BTW, the stepper motors on the A1000 floppies had quite a problem with staying aligned. That's more than likely your problem.
