I'm not specifically an "Amiga repair person" - I don't offer it as a business service or anything like that - but I am an Electronics Engineer by trade and in my spare time I'm always hacking and tinkering with electronic designs of my own or fiddling with other electronic things.  So repairing stuff is a part of my skill set.

I don't want to go into business offering an Amiga repair service, but if someone local asked me to take a look at a problem for them I'd be amenable to that.

This is a good initiative Cammy- the longer we keep the Amigas in service, working and out of landfill, the better.

Is there anyone else who repairs other types of retro computers who could be added to the list?

TOGA has a very good Amiga tech who repairs equipment.  He repaired/upgraded my Video Toaster A2000s, A4000, A1200 tower, Bodega Bay, and an A4000 tower for another group.  He has repaired/upgraded other platforms, too, like the Apple IIGS, Atari 800, and X68000.

Robert, who is this TOGA repair tech you are writing about, do you know his/her name?

I would like to have his contact info, and I am sure Cammy would like to add his/her name and contact info to her list too.

Besides wanting it for future Amiga repairs & upgrades, I also have other electronic equipment that is currently in need of repairs and I would like to ask this person if they are capable of doing other kinds of electronics repairs in their spare time.

@Cammy: this is a great thread! And very useful for a lot of people.

I personally know at least 2 persons who are passionate about Amiga, and they are very very talented people. The have repaired all the awfull madness i did trough the last years with my machines, trying to play the role of an engineer or electronic engineer. I suck.

They are also very passionate about other 8/16 bit stuff such as the C=, Atari, MSX, etc. They have even built homemade solutions to be able to use SD cards on the C=, MSX, Ataris and of course Amigas. That, among other stuff i remember (like using optical PC mouse on the Amiga/Commodore)

i know they do this just for hobby. The repairs are not expensive, at least not in my country (Argentina), they are VERY talented and VERY good doing this, and they have many projects to do in the near future, for all kind of machines, focused on Amiga, C=, Atari and MSX, in that order. One is a former local Commodore engineer.

I should ask them if they would be willing to repair stuf from abroad, and of course, if you are willing to send them the stuff so far away (Argentina).

If i have positive news about this, and if you are interested on their services, i will update here

PD: i also know some polish guy who repairs Amigas, not sure if he is on this forum tough (and maybe some from Czech Republic and/or Hungary). But, dont know if they do massive repairs or they just repair for themselves because lack of time, whi is, usually, one of the most annoying problems many have here

Duncan M. of TOGA.  He has done repairs for me (A500, A1200, A3000, A4000, and more), SCCAN (A2000 and A3000 repairs), and the defunct Astoria Commodore User Group (A1200, A2000, and A4000 repairs).  He has shown up at the last two Amiwest Shows, bringing in materials to exhibit.

I had my 1084S monitor fixed at my local TV repair shop Wacketts, here in Newcastle. They knew straight away what was wrong, and had a compatible part. So try your local TV/aerial type repair shop for Commodore monitor repairs.
Power supply bricks are best replaced by a PC power supply and adapter cables from Amigakit for example.
