Need Help Serious Copy Protection?!
« on: July 30, 2010, 11:23:43 AM »
Good Day

Today Pinball Dreams came from Ebay and the problems started

I try to copy the game to blank diskets with X-Copy and D-copy

First i used D-Copy and when i started to copy disk to Ram the Screen turns to Blurry black and White colors :sealed: and i noticed it must have somekind of serious copy protection.

Then i used X-Copy and then the clusters or what they are started to Mark Red (1) and then few seconds they turn blue i was relived but in the half of the copy starts Red (7) and thats about it.

And i tried the game and it worked so no broken disk.

I cant use orginal floppies they are almost 20 years old and they can go broke =(

Please tell me how i copy this i used X-Copy 6.7 Pro and it failed with Doscopy

And its not illegal to make backup since i own the real game.

Usually my everygame has been possible to make backup.

EDIT: http://www.mobygames.com/game/pinball-dreams/trivia oh cr*p

Are you using any kind of hardware dongle with those disk-copy programs?
I remember that most games would make working copies using only d-copy or x-copy. But there was one game, I think it was Odyssey that failed to copy like that.
Then I did buy some disk copier software that came with a dongle that you connected between the external diskdrive and the amiga. Then copying would make working copies.
Sadly I dont remember the name of that copy utility.

But if you find the game on back2roots it is probably a patched version and should work anyway.

I've had that cable for years now. Works like a charm with AE.
A1200, Blizzard 1260 + 64mb, Indivision AGA, Subway USB, 8GB CF-HD, PCMCIA network card, OS 3.9.
And a couple of A600\'s :).

To be honest, I would advise you to buy an a1200 and some old 4GB IDE harddrive. will make things much easier. Wont cost you a lot either. But thats totally off-topic.
Amiga 1200 (1d4) Kickstart 3.1 (40.68), Elbox Power/Winner tower (450w psu), BlizzardPPC 603e+ @240mhz & 060 @50mhz, 256MB, Bvision, IDE-fix Express, IndivisionAGA, 120GB IDE, cd, dvd, Cocolino, Micronik Keycase, PCMCIA Ethernet, Ratte monitor switcher, Prelude1200, triple boot WB3.1 / OS3.9 / OS4.1, Win95 / MacOS8.1

just do not use discdoctor, it would probably make things much worse.
when i had no hdd in amiga, i used pc2amiga and undms.
but these days its adf this adf that. i'm sure there are free utils on aminet to do what you need, even though everyone likes that explorer thing.
parallel would be much much faster, but you'd need to be EXTRA CAREFUL with the cable.

oh,btw, if you got two floppy drives on PC, then it can read Amiga diskettes. but dunno if it could write them too.
