MorphOS PowerUP and OWB
« on: July 28, 2010, 12:22:30 AM »
I run MOS PUP on my A4000, but I have unsuccessfully gotten OWB (v1.7) to load.

I have a fresh install of MOS 1.4.5 with update pack and MUI4 (beta from 2007). When double clicking the OWB icon I get some disk activity for a little while, then nothing. No errors or anything. It is not supposed to work on my setup? Or probably just too slow for anything anyways.

No, it should work (even if i haven't tested it myself for a long time on such a setup). It would first open a window showing font indexation progress (which can take a while at first run), and then the main browser window.

Anyway, run snoopdos to see where it could fail. And if you suspect it crashed, run getramdebuglog command and get the resulting logfile.

I have ran OWB1.8 successfully on my CSPPC, perhaps you need to install the small update released for 1.4.5 at MorphOS webpage.

Try to see what snoopdos says. I was running ver 1.5 on my A1200 with MorphOS PUP with 128MB RAM and It was slow, but running.

I'd also be interested in some speed comparison with netsurf (even if 68k) and OWB on OS4 classic, btw. I never was able to do that, and i got quite different opinions on this.

I wasn't patience enough to propely set up my Amiga OS 3.x and Amiga OS 4.0 on my A1200 to do some test, especially when I had Mac Mini with MorphOS 2.4 next to that machine ;)
